Hello,

I’m going to buy one of these as an upgrade from a 12th gen. For 90% gaming usage which do you think would be a better way to go? There is only a $180.00 price difference between the two. I’m going to be pairing this with an MSI Z790 EDGE DDR4 motherboard with 4000 CL14 4x8 ram. I also currently already have a corsair 360 AIO. Does the 14900k have a better memory controller? I’ve also read that APO is only available currently on the 14900k? I’m not sure if that’s accurate or not? Which one would you guys go with? Thx

I went from a 12700k to a 14900k. I say get the i9 if you’re not already on an i9. I think the memory controller is pretty decent and I haven’t had any issues running 48gb DDR5 at 7200mhz CL34. I tried to run higher frequency and tighter timings but I was running into stability issues. So what I have is perfect but I am also not the best with manual OC so there’s also that. But also has a lot to do with your motherboard with these chips. I had to switch from an MSI z690 MPG force WiFi to an ASUS z790 Maximus Dark Hero to have better ram stability.
