So this is the aluminum? Heard the glass is very soft more than past years. Maybe should go stainless steel, think I might. Sapphire glass.

I’ve owned the stainless steel S1, S3, S4, S7… not a single one of them ever got a micro scratch on the screen.

It is quite soft, my S8 already has many micro scratches. I’ve seen the stainless steel ones that look brand new even after a couple years

I had one aluminum years ago and as since then only steel with sapphire. I wear my watch 24/7 and have owned about 10 (2 ultras now). All have been preowned and have never had a scratch on the glass. Sorry to see your scratch. Certainly that is heartbreaking.

Huh, so I’m not crazy. Had a Series 5 for a while, and upgraded to S8. Noticed within a few months how scuffed the screen was getting with the only culprits being yard work. Ended up trading it in and getting the Ultra 2 because I was so irritated with how bad the screen looked, especially when compared to my old S5, after just a few months.

I’ve had the Ultra since January. I’m a mechanic and have knocked it against all sorts of things many times, not a scratch on the glass or the titanium. Actually cannot believe how durable this thing is.

I went SS 2 years ago for my Series 6 and am completely sold on the sapphire. After 2 years it looks brand new new compared to my old Series 4.

I’ve always used the stainless steel ones and never had issues with scratches. It’s worth it

Here’s another vote for Stainless Steel. I’ll never go back. The sapphire not only helps screen protection, the screen actually looks better. More grand. Hard to explain but if you see and wear it in person, you’ll understand.

I still don’t have any scratches on my S6 that I bought when it was released, what did you do to yours?

I looked at my movado watch, my tissot and INVICTA, all which I’ve had longer than my AW and the glass looks no where nearly as bad as my S5-S7 did. I truly don’t believe the AW screen is glass.

I hate to say this now but I learned with my 5 I’ll get a screen protector. Considering the vulnerability with a watch it makes sense.

I have a similar scratch on my Series 7. It’s only really visible when the screen is off, so it hasn’t truly bothered me.

I honestly wouldn’t sweat it. Ships in port are safe, but that’s not what ships are for.

It’s going to get scratched, and that’s ok.

I’m finding the glass very soft on my S9 😩 I haven’t even dropped it or banged it. I can see light stretches and a very tiny deeper scratch. They always advertise it saying how tough the glass is

Question to all AW owners: is the Ion-X glass THAT scratch-prone? I keep seeing videos, posts and even friends saying that they scratched their brand new AW within days. Wondering because I’m considering buying one.

I wore a Pixel Watch for over a year with no protection and no particular care and there was not a single scratch on it. Is Gorilla glass more scratch-resistant than Ion-X?

My SE 2 is just a year old now and it looks like I’ve dragged it along every wall and surface I’ve come across, it’s rough.
