RAM clock is limited by the CPU memory controller, BIOS, the quality/precision of the motherboard traces, and the RAM itself.

You can always try higher clock speeds, but there’s no guarantee it will work if you exceed the CPU/motherboard/RAM spec sheet.

Going too far will result in a failure to boot or other system instability / crashes, but unlikely to cause damage

You will need to overclock your ddr5 ram to reach over 4800. Nothing to do with 13700k. Go check motherboard, any related video how to.

Depends on the mobo you can run up to 8000+. Check your mobo specs.

7400 works also, but depends on motherboard. On my I was able to get 7000 but fully stable

It really depends on the board and silicon lottery. My 13700k works with 7200 cl34 xmp on my Z790 carbon board. I think most CPUs can handle 6000s easily.

5600 is the base clock, you can run almost any OC RAM with it ( oc means xmp ) for manual tuning its upto your knowledge and past experience, currently running 6200 xmp with 13700k

Mine crashed at 6k. Set it to 5600 and it was happy. On z790 Msi board

silicon lottery, im running 7200-32-41-41-41 fully stable. thats on the high end of what the 13700k can do to my knowledge tho

It wont break it just might not boot going too high. Without tweaking just enabling xmp youd be safe with 6400 cl32. If you are willing to tweak a bit, do 6800cl34 or 7200 cl34.

Yes, my 13600k ran 5600mhz cl36 ram overclocked to 6400 cl30 though I had to turn voltages up. You could get a kit thats already clocked to 6000 or more and just turn on xmp to make it easy. It should run, even 7000. But the higher you go the more risk of instability there is. But just 6000? Yeah that should be no problem.

That’s why it’s important to double check if the ram model is guaranteed to work. Look for it in the memory list from the motherboard manufacturer’s website.

I have mine running with 6600 G.Skill in a Z690…it’s all about the chip and the board and ram together…the CPU’s memory controller is the main factor but newer BIOS updates will support higher OC speeds if you’re lucky. I plan to push this CPU to 7400 if I can.

Yes. Xmp will let you get higher. Motherboard matters here more. I run 13700k and 6400 no worries on a z690 - but that it the QVM fastest.
