For reference I have a switch lite and a gaming laptop

Should I get a cheaper lcd now, wait longer and save for the OLED edition, or skip getting a deck entirely?

I like my gaming laptop but really wanted to get into deck gaming esp because using my laptop on the couch or bed is not practical. However I am on a tight budget so anything 500 or more is too much for me right now sadly. But everyone here and on YouTube is saying how it blows the lcd model out of the water but honestly saving a few hundred bucks means I could get a deck now. Maybe I should just wait and save a few hundred even if means I don’t get to play a deck right now.

Your thoughts?

If your budget is tight, you can do everything the deck would do on your laptop (besides playing handheld).

If you really want one though, I’d say grab a 64gb secondhand for dirt cheap, and then swap the ssd.

also, to note, you could always place the laptop on a coffee table or something at the couch and use a controller

Pick one up second hand with all of the people trying to fire sale their LCD models for the OLED. A lot of deals to be had.

I’d not make a decision until you can try both. If there is no way for you to try them in person, I’d err on the side of saving up for the OLED.

If you’re on a tight budget, you should probably save that $500 to go towards emergency rent or mortgage funds or food.
