When I was 16 I bought that MacBook and I put a bunch of random stickers on it. I took them off today and they left this residue… how can I get it off without damaging the finish?

You can get the residue off, but Apple Space Grey is notorious for sticker burn. The discolouration does not come off; the coating is that colour permanently.

This. I will never buy a “color” Apple computer again, I’m sticking with silver which I assume is the lack of finish.

Silver is still a finish. Every colour is anodized onto the aluminium; I’ve sanded enough of them to find out. I have only seen the problem on space Grey, which just happens to be the most popular. Rose gold is unaffected, like the silver. I don’t know about the midnight colour, but I don’t THINK it had the problem
