Hi, so I currently have an A71, I bought it in 2020 and it has 3 years. It has been a good phone but now is laggy and it is time to change it.

I can’t decide between those two, right now those are my options.

S23+ at $1,099 (regular price $1,359) or A54 8Gb at $409 (regular price $559)

Of course, I know that the S23+ wins in all aspects like performance, camera, display, size, etc. My question would be if it is worth to pay almost 3 times the price of the A54 to get the S23+?

I would use it for basic stuff like Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, email, etc. No gaming, just casual photos, selfies, occasionally watch a movie in Netflix.

What would be your recommendation? I’m really struggling, I’m not sure to spend 1K in a phone that might get lost or broken (although I really ally take care of my stuff).

Also, I live in Central America, so the things are a little bit pricey here.

Thanks in advance!

You’ll be fine with a54 for years to come. I’m living perfectly fine with an A72 and I do everything with my phone, including emulating games up to psp/dremcast/n64

I’d buy a flagship only for the better camera experience and performance. But I’m gonna stay with my phone untill it keeps getting updates tho.

Flagship cameras are no joke, I had a Nikon with really expensive lenses and the S22U cameras performed well - pro mode was very useful although professional cameras will always have a better post-production capabilities and versatility but outside of a studio they are pretty much a burden.

A54 camera on the other hand, is very good you can even say just as good - for everyday use i would get the A54 as it is the most value. Flagships and mid rangers both have a 3-4 year life span.
