I have a ps5. I’ve been wanting to get into pc gaming and I realize this isn’t quite it but the steam deck just seems so damn cool. What are y’all’s thoughts on it? Do most of y’all already own a pc and just use this for on the go or do you use it as your primary means of gaming?

I own a gaming laptop so my Steam library is already filled with games. I love portable systems and being able to take them on the go which is why I have a gaming laptop but portables are even more portable and even run the same on battery so they’re great. So if I’m connected to an external display I’ll use my laptop but around the house portable system

I have a PS5 (and will be picking up a Portal on Wednesday) for the convenience factor, I have a gaming pc too and will do the same thing with the Steam Deck OLED as well.

Most of us who bought a steam deck end up using it a whole lot more than our actual Pc’s because of how much more convenient it is, sure we still use our PC’s for newer games we wanna play but at the end of the day we would end up going back to it

I bought the deck 100% for portable gaming. I already have a top tier gaming PC which can play anything I can throw at it, as well as a PS5 and many other consoles, but when you’re sitting on the couch or laying in bed and wanting to play a game, the deck is just the best. Even though I don’t use it that much, no regrets at all, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again. It is bad freaking ass!

I have both a PC and a Steam Deck. What I’ve found is that its the type of game that determines where I play it. If its a mouse based game (as there are some I have that are point and click or otherwise need a mouse) than I’m on the PC. If not? I’m on the Deck. The smaller screen (compared to my PC) really isn’t an issue as the screen is plenty big enough. Plus, I find that on Deck I’m less likely to get distracted whereas on the computer I’m more likely to do fifty other things before I even open the game and then most of my time to play is gone.

Add in the fact that if you don’t have a Deck yet that the new OLED deck just got enounced. Its means a TON of people are selling their original Decks much cheaper. So you have a choice between that and getting a new OLED deck if you want one.
