Hi guys! Quick advice, I have to decide soon.

Gift. Girl. Currently has iPhone 14 with Apple Watch SE. Previously had S20 FE.

Doesn’t love iPhone 14, especially small screen at 60Hz and no back button. In some ways preferred Galaxy, although it heated up badly and was a big problem.

On the contrary, she loves Apple Watch. She also has AirPods but they also work on Android so no problem. The Galaxy would not integrate with her MacBook, but I don’t think that’s binding.

For her birthday, I want to get her a phone that has a large 120Hz screen.

Here arises the dilemma: iPhone 14 Pro Max while keeping Apple Watch SE or Galaxy S23 Plus while also buying Galaxy Watch 6? Similar price: 1000 euros or so for both options.

Thank you very much!

Seems like shes deep in the apple ecosystem might as well get the 14 pro max. Either choice are great but might as well stick with apple

At this point, it entirely comes down to OS preference and ecosystem.

Both the 15 pro max and the s23 ultra have awesome battery life, killer cameras, and great screens.

The ultra has the pen, and a 10x telephoto, if those things are a big deal.

I use the galaxy watch 6. I fail to see anything the apple watch can do that it can’t, although the watch ultra is badass looking from a purely aesthetic standpoint.

    Buds 2 pro are excellent.

Given that she has a whole apple ecosystem, I’d probably go with 15 pro max, although I think the 23 ultra is a slightly better phone overall.

Not as simple! It’s a very complicated situation because I heard her say that she doesn’t like some things in iOS, such as the absence of a way to always go back from the bottom of the interface, the handling of PDFs, the absence of SPAM call alerts, and more. However, I think there are also things she likes about iOS instead. It’s a mess! Ahah Also because iPhone 14 Pro Max is extremely heavy, more uncomfortable than Galaxy S23 Plus. And she doesn’t have huge hands. In addition, there is a risk that the Galaxy Watch will not be on the same level as the Apple Watch

if you don’t ask her explicitly if she likes Android or iOS better, you’ll always have the chance that you choose wrong, that being said:

Apple Watch to Galaxy Watch will for sure be a downgrade (from what I heard, I still have Galaxy Watch 4 and never had an Apple Watch personally)

iPhone 14 to Galaxy S23(+) will be a small upgrade just like iPhone 14 to iPhone 14 Pro (Max)

if she has small hands why not Galaxy S23 (Base 256GB version for faster storage) or iPhone 14 Pro (120Hz but not as big screen)

Thank you for your reply. One thing she doesn’t like about iPhone 14 is the small screen. She preferred the 6.5-inch one of S20 FE.

oh ok I thought only the 60Hz were the problem, well then the Pro Max would be the correct choice (just ignore the regular Pro suggestions in my other comments :))

if iPhone I wouldn’t go for the Pro Max cause he said she has small hands, the regular Pro should also have 120Hz no? or maybe the 15 Pro so it’s a proper upgrade (but I don’t know enough about Apple stuff to say if the 15 is worth it)

The problem with the 15 Pro is the 6,1" screen. She doesn’t like such a small screen

Samsung if she will prefer the phone way more. The galaxy watch is much better aesthetically according to my mates that use Apple. Downside would be the battery in some ways but an Apple Watch SE will not be that diffrent in battery life to a watch 6

Only one person can answer this, and you won’t find her here. Since that’s a respectable sum of money we’re talking about, you better be sure.

If you don’t wanna ask her directly, be smart and sneaky and try to let her talk about it without giving away your objective.

Honestly your best bet is to ask her what she wants I get it may ruin the surprise but it’s Honestly better than getting her the wrong phone. If you really don’t want to ruin the surprise get the iphone 14 pro max it’s the safest bet

Honestly someone gave a good suggestion, ask her about her experience using the s20fe compared to an iPhone and ask which one is better and if she had to choose a newer phone hypotheticallly which platform she would rather have and then say oh I like iPhone better because such and such. It’s better to ask without really asking so you can make the best decision. My answer would be to stick with an Apple device and maybe find an unlocked refurbished phone but it’s up to you.

If she loves the watch, that’s hard.

I prefer the look of Samsung Watches but Apples Watch does more.

That’s sad, I have a MacBook and use my phone with it. There’s a few little pieces of software that help transfer files. No iMesaage but you can definitely integrate.

it’s the Samsung sub so go for Galaxy, the S23+ is amazing

but depending on how much she likes the apple ecosystem iPhone could be great too, although I probably would wait and go for 15 Pro Max next year (reduced price), iPhone 14 is still a very new device
