PlayStation Portal is here! Sony's remote play handheld has been divisive since its announcement, and we're finally able to test it ahead of its launch this ...
seems like the target audience for this is very niche. People who want a first party way to stream their games, but also share a TV and don’t want to just pay a cheaper price for a phone mount, but are willing to spend $200 on a dedicated streaming device.
im willing to bet this doesn’t sell well, but im hoping it gets jailbroken. this little device could be a hell of an emulation device at a little over half the cost of the steamdeck.
My completely unsubstantiated conspiracy theory is that Sony had a warehouse full of phones that were semi functional but didn’t pass QA, and they jury rigged this thing as a way to repurpose them, so even if they only sell a hundred K or so it’s still a win

Full of phones with 1080p LCD 8" display?
Aside from the screen size, is there any reason to buy this if you already have a phone clip for your PS5 controller?
a slightly bigger screen, but you’ll pay for that when the compression artifacts are more noticable.
but other than that, like you said, no. theres 0 reason to. and the stream delay seems a frame or two slower than phones for some reason.
