I’ve been hit with the dreaded battery drain issue (S8, sw version 21s67). So I decided to shut down the watch instead of letting this massive drain go on and potentially impact the battery only to notice that the actual option to shut the watch down is gone.
If I go to Settings - > General - > Shut Down, I am presented with 3 options (Medical, Backtrack, Emergency SOS). It seems there is no way to shut the watch down other than letting the battery die?
It does take several taps to get the power button to work, but it does work on my watch.
It works fine, y’all just have sausage fingers 🌭
That’s why a lot of us wear AWU’s… 😁
Not new with 10.x but I often have issues getting buttons in the upper corners to register taps on my AW6 SS. It usually takes a couple taps. I hate those little buttons in the corners almost as much as the tiny buttons on CarPlay (especially in maps).
As others have said, there is a little power button on the top right, but if that doesn’t work you can do a soft reboot, by holding down the crown and action button until you see the apple logo.
That’s a hard reboot, not soft, and it doesn’t solve OP’s problem because it doesn’t result in a shutdown.
Just tried out the long-press-the-Side button-then-Power-then-Slide on my S9 and it was fine. Not sure why this isn’t even easier on an ultra with that screen corner being flat.
Just did it right now with my SE. It works just fine.
Are you trying to shut it down while connected to the charger? If so, it won’t work. The watch needs to be unplugged for the shutdown button on the screen to work.
I use the force shutdown on my S4 16GB watch works fine?
FWIW my watch is pretty old so once a day I pretty much restart my watch usually after working out
