Looking at previous posts when SD was released it was always sold out fast?

    Well, I give a good chuckle every time I read a post about someone selling their original Steam Deck in prep for this one because I’m sure it is going to sell out instantly.

    I think the special edition one will be gone in seconds. I want one but am willing to bet it won’t even be order-able once the crush subsides and things settle. You just won’t be able to get an order in and then suddenly, they’ll be out.

    Better chance with the regular OLED though.

    We don’t know however I think it’s unlikely it would sell out very quick because the main thing holding back the original steam deck was the silicon shortage which is now over. Valve themselves did say they have a lot of stock of the OLED model. The only one I’m certain will sell out within a few minutes is the limited edition deck

    Zero.

    Valve has stated several times that they doubt they’ll sell out at all, and if they do it will be a short restock wait. So selling out immediately? Not gonna happen

    The situation was very different for the OG Steam Deck, they took preorder 6 months in advance and had to ramp up production because (1) it was a new product and (2) they didn’t expect it to be that successful.

    I imagine they have been building those at the same pace they were building Steam Decks recently.

    But regardless, nobody knows how likely it is, people here are just throwing random guesses. Even Valve doesn’t know. It depends how many OG owners will upgrade, how many who were on the fence will pull the trigger, how many scalpers will jump on the occasion…
