I am using my S10+ for 4 years now and I have no reason to get a new phone apart from the lack of updates. It feels old without updates, if you understand what I mean. What is a big downside for not getting any updates anymore? Security maybe?

Coming from Apple my old IPhone was supported for what felt like ages.

I could spend the money on a new phone but I don’t really see the point. I don’t want to spend it just so I can get new updates. The S10+ just feels perfect, it’s crazy to me how good the battery is + performance and everything else. The phone also just looks good. It has no fault apart form regular updates.

Could you maybe list some reason why I should get a new phone or why I should still wait.

Yeah, I’m in a similar situation. I’ve resisted upgrading for 7 years, but I’m going through that with a pair of pristine S7 phones, with new versions of some important apps requiring at least Android 9.0. It sucks, but no where near as bad as what I have experienced with Apple, which has forced me to upgrade my iPad twice now because of app support.

If I am going to upgrade, I’m going to upgrade to the latest and greatest, and probably hold onto my new S24 or S23 it for another 7 years! gif

I still use my Redmi Note 9S which is > 3 years old at this point. The performance difference compared to a newer phone is palpable, but by itself it works fine. I’ve installed a custom ROM on it and in some respects it’s close to perfect. Even now.
