Hey, I was googling it and it seemed some people got instantly banned on a brand new account if they ordered a Steam Deck. I would like to purchase the new OLED Steam Deck for my wife without her knowing about it. Is it confirmed that a brand new account would automatically get flagged/banned if they purchase a Steam Deck?
Should I buy gift cards and add it to the new account and could that prevent any flagging? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

I just created an account last week to buy a SD when the prices dropped. I haven’t been banned yet and my deck order says “being packed for shipping” on the status page.
Id email valve and ask. this was imo to stop scalpers.
It should be enough to make even just a single 5usd purchase.
Just stockpiling credit ain’t enough.
