VR was amazing, Red Dead 2 is a work of art, the Gran Turismo series stole weeks from my life, the Dreamcast was beautiful in every way, Quake made me realise how much I loved fast twitch sports, seeing Tekken in 3D on the PS1 for the first time blew my mind so hard I could scarcely believe it was real, the Amiga got me into computing and likely secured my career in IT, but…

Dirt Rally 2.0 is just so beautiful to look at, so smooth at a solid 60fps, and the controls on the Deck so perfectly suited to the semi-realistic physics, requiring absolute concentration to the point that you can lose yourself to a full and pure flow-state of mind in seconds after a pause / resume, whilst just sitting at your desk, or on the sofa, or on the toilet…

The graphics, the sound, the physics, the performance, the skills you have to build, the state of mind it puts you in, and all on a handheld device that handles it beautifully.

It’s gaming history, in my own canon.

    It’s awesome on the Deck!
But I kept Dirt Rally 1 on it instead because :
1 - It takes less space
2 - I’m ok at 1 but really bad at 2. It’s much harder! Am I doing it wrong?

I think I only had to change the first 3 or 4 settings on that page, the rest is default IIRC. So I don’t know how much of a difference it will make, but maybe it will be just enough!! Also messing with the Steering Sensitivity might help, I think I started with 87 or something and it felt fine so I kept it there.

I played Dirt 3 to 100% completion on Deck, and it was such a fun experience. Bring back gymkhana!

Loving Dirt 3 as well at the moment - tho I hate gymkhana!! I will happly lower the difficultly to causal to gold those events.

      Runs 60fps @ Full screen 16:10 in 5 watts

Unfortunately, at 100 gb, the game takes up far too much memory. Otherwise, I completely agree with you.

And imagine this game on the OLED. Awesome

You’re not missing anything, it still runs. Although I only today opted for Proton Experimental and it allowed 800p resolution, where as previously it was 720.

V-Sync on. Then play around with your graphics a little and you should be hitting 60 everywhere.

Rally games with those short 2-5 minute stages are a perfect fit for a handheld gaming.

    1. Wake
    2. Drive
    3. Sleep

Was always curious, do people use gyro for driving games on SD? Especially ones less forgiving, like Dirt rally.

Added to my wishlist! I’ll grab it at the next sale. Thanks for the recommendation. I got really into Dirt 1-3 (and weirdly loved 3, even the gymkhana stuff) but I’ve never checked out the Dirt Rally series. I already own Dirt Rally 1 so I might check that out first.
