Recently built a new PC and got the 14900K. I wanted to see how it ran in Cinebench at Intel stock limits and got a multicore score of around 35k. My understanding is that this is way lower than most people are getting with this CPU right out of the box.
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Here’s an overview of information that might be relevant:
- I have an Asus motherboard, but I disabled the option to let the bios optimize in order to see how the CPU performs at intended settings
- I have a Thermalright contact frame and was hitting around 80c throughout the test
- In case it matters: SP rating is 93 overall, 102 on the P cores, 76 on the E cores
I get 40k at first then it drops to 39k as the throttle kicks in.
I can manage 325w PL on a 420mm AIO, but even with offset it still throttles to 5.6 Ghz.
People getting 40k+ are mostly on water cooling.
Im not sure man i get 41200 with a stock 13900K + unlimited PL1/PL2 and a Liquid Freezer II 280
Uses something like 360W and reaches around 90C
Fellow ASUS mobo here.
Set “aitweaker->asus multicore enhancement” to remove all limits, drop the long and short duration package power limits in “aitweaker->internal cpu power management->” (you can do this in intel XTU too) until you are no longer thermal throttling for more than 1-2 seconds (mine is set to 320 watts for both). I didn’t use any LL or undervolting because my chip would become unstable right away. Went from 37000-39000 to 41000 and pcore temps in the low to mid 90s.
Okay I will give this a try. When you were dropping the short and long duration package power limits, what values did you choose to test at first? And what values did you ultimately settle on? Not trying to copy you, but just want to get an idea of where to start.
Stock is 253 watts and no power limits my cpu pulled 340+ watts. I was able to avoid thermal throttling with a 360 mm aio with a 320 watt limit for both.
I bet all the numbers you’re seeing online are from people with motherboards that don’t enforce the Intel limits. I know my Gigabyte isn’t and I’m in the 40K area on R23.
That what I get if my Xmp is disabled
You have Xmp enabled ?
