Absolutely no. eBay will not help if you go outside of their channels. Be patient with the buyer guarantee process.

It’s a scam as others have said. They’ll just claim you never sent it back and as it’s outside of eBay, which I believe is also against T&C’s, eBay will take their side most likely.

Just use eBay’s service, that’s what they are there for.

I was recently on the other side where a buyer returned a product after breaking it and even admitted to it but I was still forced to refund them. So don’t worry because you will eventually get your money back even though it may take some time, just make sure to use ebays service.

I just tried to use my deck after a month of not using it and the touchscreen wasn’t working, try putting your deck in battery storage mode and turning it on again by plugging it into a charger after 15 minutes.

Ebay will allow you to use your own tracking and input the info. You just click where it says “i already have a label” or something like that

Follow eBay’s rules and you’ll win. eBay is very harsh on sellers in the way that it’ll always side with the buyer. Customer experience is paramount.

If you received a faulty deck, raise a return via eBay, wait for the return label and send it back.

I can understand seller being worried, there’s a high chance he’s out of pocket here, but you have a right to either a refund or a replacement and you’ll get one or the other if you follow eBay’s rules.

    Stay within Ebay.

If you need assistance, get in touch with Ebay and explain everything. Get proof. Go through the proper processes. They’re very good at sorting shit out, it may take a week or two though.

If the seller scams you, legit or by accident, Ebay will most likely side with you and you’ll get your money back.

Try putting the steam deck in battery saving mode through BIOS. It helped with my touch screen issues.

Never do anything outside of the platform you bought something from.

There’s a reason Ebay has return policy’s in place, and it’s so that everything that happened is tracked and clear. If you go around Ebay, they can’t help you when anything happens or when the seller decides to not be honest about things.

I know I’m late but as others have said it’s a scam. Go through ebay. At least where I am, UK, the seller HAS to cover the cost of return either with a prepaid label or at the least, sending you the funds to buy the label. If they fail to do that, they can lose both the item and the money if it’s long enough.

Open a return as it being damaged or not as described. They have 3 full business days to cover the return, afterwhich you can escalate the case where itll go on hold for 5 calendar days and give the seller their last warning to send you a return label or you’ll get refunded regardless
