I haven’t seen much discussion on this aspect of the new deck (at least none that I could find). A google search of HDR capable games on Steam turns up around 186ish games with most of them being more recent releases. With the deck having an HDR capable screen, do you think we will get more games/updates to older games with HDR? I would love to play Star Ocean or the Arkham series with HDR.

I would completely rule out 99.999999% of older titles getting HDR patches.

More titles will get released with HDR support.

I would expect Valve to come out with an auto-HDR feature eventually, however that isn’t the same as a native HDR implementations.

HDR on PC in general is a bit of a mess tbh. Fantastic when it’s done well, but often done poorly or not at all.

I’m mostly excited to stream HDR games via Moonlight. Windows Auto HDR is almost a necessity as not many games support it natively (and even fewer do it well).

The killer feature here would be auto HDR for Linux. On windows apart from Win 11 autohdr, there is Special K and Reshade add ons that can do it for any game, so I can see them coming to Steamdeck very soon, but the dream is an official Valve implementation. I’d bet on it being on their roadmap.
