I can’t believe I spent four months anticipating this feature.

Honestly, neither can I. It’s emoji reactions to texts. Doesn’t seem like a big deal either way.

Why is this written as if it’s a new feature in the 17.2 betas? It launched in 17.0.

And they’re great, btw. Love my stickers so much.

is it different then stickers? yea the stickers have been there since 17.0 but has the ability to use them as a “tapback” been there?

I love this argument when I see it. People are like “why is the US so obsessed with iMessages? In Europe you just download WhatsApp and telegram and signal and fb messenger and you can talk to almost anyone! I have a few friends that don’t use those but we just use twitter DMs so it’s all good” and that just sounds like the worst experience in the world to me.

And I love how they like to group everyone in Europe. I’m from Europe, every person I chat with uses iMessages. I don’t even have WhatsApp or Messenger or Viber installed…

The same but the opposite can be said about America where everyone using iMessage even though they know that it is missing countless features

At least in Europe folks have a choice, in America they don’t sadly

I only meant that particular issue won’t apply to me or to the people I chat with since nobody uses it. (Which is a bit of a shame, I personally like iMessage).

Question: you have their number right so you can still technically text/iMessage them right? I believe pictures are the only issue because European phone plans don’t have unlimited picture texting or something?

Yes, we can all do it, we just don’t, it’s just not popular. In Spain in particular, whatsapp is the king. Most of people have limited, but good enough amount of gigas to spend. I have 30 per month and I never use it. Fun fact, Orange here labels it: “unlimited data (30GB)”

It’s kind of the same in the US. Our “unlimited” data plans have secret limits. You don’t pay extra once you hit it, but the carriers will slow you down to unusable speeds. And also for tethering, there’s usually a hard limit where they will charge you more once you exceed your plan’s tethering limit.

Traditionally the “limit” was a point in which they’d either shut off your data for the month, or charge you an overage fee. Nowadays there’s no fee and they won’t shut off your data. You might be limited to 600 kbps but you can continue to use the web.

With my Verizon plan, I think my limit is 22GB before they start throttling.

I’m having a blast making stickers of my family and friends. They work better than expected with selecting the subject. Live Photos make some interesting GIFs too so thats a plus. It may become obnoxious to some folks (like my dad) but it’s mostly just for goofs anyways.

    I’m confused by Snell’s post.

Surely he’s been experimenting with stickers since iOS17 was released? Only then it was only in the + menu, not also in the context menu.

Second, I’ve used sticker packs and iMessage before and the stickers usually show up on the message, so I’m not sure why that would be considered unexpected behavior.

Who uses iMessage? I use it only for text messaging people who don’t use WhatsApp, Telegram, or one of the other more popular cross-platform services.

It also can be somewhat annoying. Friend A is on Telegram. Family Member A and B is on WhatsApp while Family Member C is on Signal. Former classmates are on Facebook Messenger. Etc.

I like putting the stickers over text :) it’s realling annoying :) I have a sticker of my naked butt, it’s everywhere in iMessage by now. Btw you can just tap the text and all the stickers hide. And it’s not a new feature
