First of all when I’m in an even slightly dark room I can slide my finger across the screen like 50 times and it doesn’t disable. It apparently has to be pixel perfect or some bullshit. Most of the time I just end up turning on a light which I guess disables it.
Second, it doesn’t fucking work to stop my phone from trying to do emergency calls while the phone is in my pocket. It is inconvenient as fuck while still failing at its literal one job.
I have turned it off in the past but I find my phone will be a lot worse about doing things in my pocket at work and it isn’t worth the tradeoff. I also don’t remember my phone being this garbage until the last 6 months or so.
I don’t think any other phone I’ve ever had Samsung or Apple, has been this garbage. I’m almost at the point where I just get a new phone, and if I do it’s definitely not going to be a Samsung device.
So what phone are you using?
Did you buy a shit phone and complain about shit performance?
Yea its shit.
Not sure what you are doing over there, but mine works just as it should. I’ve never accidentally called any phone number while it was in my pocket. How old is your phone?
About 3 years. It’s an S20.
(A 52) We were playing music from my phone at our party. Went to change a song and my phone just went into this accidental touch mode and just wouldn’t quit. Very embarrassing, literally killed the vibe… and i ended up disabling it and handing over the music to my friend with a one plus.
As a “samsung fanboy” it was very embarrassing. I hooe they make it better on their new phones.
dramatic
anyway
Sounds like your phone hardware failing. Sensor failure can happen
You’re not alone. It is indeed dog shit. Plenty of discussions over the years on this issue. I have now disabled screen wake up completely.
Same here on the S23U. The new vertical slider just doesen’t work.
Had the same issue on the S20U and S21U
The previous ring type worked as it should.
Vertical slider?
I agree
Happening to my S10+ as well. Keeps getting worse these past few months
Not for me, it only works when the proximity sensor senses something close, not in dark rooms at all.
The same thing happens to me in the last 6 months or so, a short time later the famous green line appeared, and it was when I took out the case and I realized that the entire right side of the phone is slightly open. Could it be that the battery is swelling and that is causing pressure on others components… S20+.
Same thing happens on my A71. I get so frustrated, too. I have fingerprint lock on my phone. I’ll go to unlock it, and it tells me that. I gave up on trying to swipe up to unlock because it never works. I hit the lock button on the side and try my fingerprint again until it eventually unlocks the screen vs. popping up that stupid message. I’ve had it a little over 2 years, and I think 75% of that time it has done this to me.
Yeah it’s really bad my gf oppo that was like 200 bucks does it better.
First time it worked for me is with my z flip 5
