I live in Australia. I’m considering asking a friend to order a steamdeck OLED for me and then ship the device over to me.
The reason I want to do this is because Australian retailers seem to charge a disproportionate amount to import the device to Australia (approx $840 USD to purchase the 512 gb steamdeck in Australia).
Is there anything I should be considering before proceeding with this plan?

I bought one and plan to ship it to Australia via Shipito. They have warehouse in Oregon (sale tax free) so that’s helps a bit too. Definitely grab the 512 version to avoid 10% GST
Did you change your steam store region to do this? And which payment method did you use? (assuming you ordered it yourself)
How much was the shipping cost?
