I’ve been wanting a steam deck since release but couldn’t afford it. Lately I was saving up to get the 512gb and hoping for a black Friday or fall sale to bring the price down a bit. Then the oled was announced and that 512 dropped by $200. I debated on it for a day and argued with myself, deciding that I could do so much with that $200, I could get all the accessories I could want with that and not break myself. Plus I’d be getting the one I’d planned on all along, the one I was excited for before the announcement and it was a better sale than I’d ever hoped for. With everyone talking about the oled I gotta wonder, am I alone here? My 512 lcd came in the mail yesterday.

I was on a budget, so I was planning on the 64GB model, then swapping out the SSD later. I already had a 512GB micro SD card lying around, so I figured I’d rock that.

Then, the fucking OLED gets announced, and I see that refurbished 512GB models are at $359. I figured it was worth taking a gamble on the refurb, and I’m glad I did.

I got it yesterday and it’s pristine. I’m tinkering with it today.

I debated it for maybe an hour, then bought a 256GB refurbished. Still waiting for the delivery! But I’m pretty thrilled that the model I wanted basically dropped $230 overnight.

I think the original 512gb is still worth it at the price it’s being sold now however the OLED is on a whole other level so I had to get the OLED

I’m not upgrading mine until it dies or my wife decides she wants to play games on it instead of her switch.

Ordered a 512gb used deck for $360 tax and shipped. Has hall sensor joy sticks installed so fingers crossed it works and functions like new. Would have rather gone refurb but don’t know when they will be in stock. Much rather take the hit on screen quality for the price difference.

Not a chance I would upgrade for all the work I put in to have the emulated games and CoinOps on my current. It’s a dream machine now.

Admittedly I’m pretty pissed, I bought my steam deck less than a year ago only to have them drop its price 200 USD, and come out with the superior OLD, with a much longer battery life.

why ppl buy the 512gb version still? - bought the 64gb version at sale (it’s cheaper now xP), replaced the ssd with 1tb one for under 100 bucks total, thus even cheaper than the 256gb version - as you should install a disposable screen protector anyway, wich cost just 10-20 bucks, there’s no point in etched glass eighter.
