RF23J9011SG issues over past 5 years. Thank God we purchased an extended warranty. 11 icemaker visits/ fixes. Samsung is making a lame offer of $500 off of a new appliance from Samsung.com. How do I get what’s fair? Anyone here had a better outcome?

This is true. The bypass device is allegedly free, but I haven’t contacted GE yet to get mine. Our water is fine without a filter. There are hacks on the Tube that show how to hack a generic filter, but I don’t dare buy generic filters – too many horror stories about the cannisters splitting – and they aren’t much cheaper anyway if you can get a couple years out of them.
My initial filter ran down to zero about 2 weeks ago. As long as it doesn’t shut off the water with that stupid chip, I’ll replace it when I notice it’s slowing the water flow. If it shuts off the water, I’ll use the free bypass.
I miss the days when a fridge would work until you poked a hole in the evaporator trying to defrost it. …but I do like frost-free too. We have an old Hotpoint side-by-side we bought used in 1990 that we still use in the garage. We had it outside for about 3 years before that, so it’s pretty ugly. …but it just keeps running.
Another thing I really miss is that crinkly finish on the doors so you don’t see smudges and fingerprints.
Don’t even get me started on car infotainment systems that can’t be replaced with aftermarket…
I have been screwing around with trying to pull a old chip off a spent filter and failing. It tears so easily. However if you do that it still says 0. I swear the first filter killed the ice maker when it expired, but the later filters dont appear so?
Either way super upset about it.
