Click the ‘bell’ icon in Control Center to turn on/off notification sounds while keeping the others.

Carplay offers this feature called “now playing”, where if any app doesn’t have a native Carplay app but plays audio, it can be controlled through Now Playing. It is great.

Android does not offer this, and Google even attacks developers who try to make mods that perform that function. For someone who has a long drive to work, Google is really irritating. Apple may be greedy and restrictive, but at least they have their head in the game.
