Because look how well it works, this is once again an Apple hatebait thread that tops /r/hardware , as is tradition.

Once that happens and essentially 25% of the buyers market goes away, I would be surprised if prices didn’t go back down.

I keep seeing people saying this and while it would make sense at first glance do remember that Nvidia is very much aware that a big chunk of their market will be gone soon, and they’ve known for a while (way before us randos learned about it). If Nvidia appropriately managed their production in anticipation of this they can keep prices higher for a while. Not forever, but at least until early next year. You can also be sure they won’t let the prices do down even a dollar below MSRP until the Super series is out. Can’t have a “cheap” 4090 make their 4080 Super look worse.

What is this take. These are laptop chips man. Meteor lake will NOT beat this, there’s a reason there’s no high end desktop meteor lake part coming.

This is looking comparable to a 13900k that you can put in a thin laptop, have 20+ hours of battery life and barely ever hear the fans. How is that not impressive?

Pat also said “AMD is in our rearview mirror” after Alder Lake and this month intel released a “new generation” that doesn’t even beat AMD’s current gen or come remotely close in efficiency so yeah I’ll just take what he says with a grain of salt.

Outside of the whole RGB is overdone thing, what I would really like to see is more innovation in the actual performance side of things.

I’m completely fine with RGB rainbow puke boxes being widely available for the people who want that, it’s the complete unbalance of things that I’m bummed about, innovative cases that try to push the envelope of how much cooling can be done in as small (but practical, not talking SFF here) a space are pretty rare.

I’m obviously aware it’s much easier said than done, putting lights in a case is way easier than reinventing the wheel of how to design a PC case that will actually net a noticeable improvement. So not really blaming the manufacturers here it makes sense, just not what I as en enthusiast would prefer the market to be.
