  • Touch pads/touch screen improvements makes the device feel much more modern.

Cooling/fan noise is way improved. It is quiet and does not get hot like the LCD model. I leave the updated fan curve setting off to keep things as cool as possible.

Wifi is greatly improved, went from 30-40 Mbps download in steam to 100 Mbps on the OLED. No other wifi changes in my environment.

Faster charging/battery life. Literally no battery anxiety. Went from 2-3 hours to 4-5 hours running my primary game at 30 fps.

Analog sticks primarily but all the buttons just feel nicer and higher quality.

Got my hands on the OG 64gb about a year ago when they started shipping a lot. Upgraded the SSD to a 256gb I was able to get for free.

It’s been a great machine with many hours of enjoyment. First model was essentially a proof of concept and it was a huge success even bringing mainstream competition. I love what Valve is doing with this device and will continue to support it.

I was going to sell the OG deck but the market is flooded right now so I will probably just keep it as a spare and let family/friends borrow it to experience it for themselves.

$1000 for both devices might seem like a lot but that does not even scratch the surface of gaming laptops. I have had a much better experience with the deck then I ever did with gaming laptops I’ve owned.
