  • Srsly I see some posts in this subreddit and I’m like so do you guys wanna just put your computers in museum cases or something & never use them? 💀 people can be gentle or super careful & still end up with this stuff.

I don’t have cases on any of my laptops & I chuck them into suitcases, my backpack etc & I’ve never had scratches OR dents on them. One time I busted a laptop in college cus it got knocked off of a podium/desk but nothing could’ve protected that lol. They’re meant to be used 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • At least it isn’t that noticeable. If you constantly live with your MacBook on eggshells then what’s the point of even having a laptop? It’s bound to get dented or scratched up if you use it like a true laptop just from diff counter surfaces etc. I’ve seen so many people who do things like lay down desk mats in public, wear gloves while typing, and obsessively clean their computers…seems like so much work and for what? 🤣

As long as you aren’t chucking it around then it’s fine. If you’re worried about dents then a sleeve or hard shell case can help; but sometimes hardballs hard shells can hurt the MacBook too (I’ve gotten fine dust/debris stuck between the case & it scratched tf out of my laptop casing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Depends on your usage - none of us know how it’s going to be used.

Netflix & light personal work? Air. Like the lowest model of an air.

Photo editing, video compression, code bases, scripts, CAD work? Pro all the way.

I had what existed of the Apple ecosystem back in 2014 (phone & iPad) because it’s what all my friends had - so I continued on (AirPods, Mac, MacBook Pro, air, keyboards, trackpads, etc.) once airdrop was introduced I was fully hooked. I could airdrop whole installation packages for my college job & it made install/upgrades much easier for our computer labs.

I have a dell xps somewhere in a closet & I don’t use it much. I thought I’d want to have dual OS just for side project purposes but haven’t found any real time to devote to it. Plus windows machines always seem to have a bunch of security/virus issues. Idk if that’s changed in the last decade or so, but I was always able to go on sketch websites from my Mac and it never bricked it…whereas windows ones felt like they were constantly bogged down with malware.
