  • First of all, I like wearing a watch. If it wasn’t a Watch it would be something else. In my case I use it for a more reliable Siri experience with HomeKit devices. A HomePod in every room still doesn’t beat wearing a mic on my wrist. I do use all the health tracking features that are relevant to me. I love the sleep app and the functionality it adds when paired with the shortcuts app and focus modes (HomeKit automations for my morning alarm and morning routine). Apple Pay is a HUGE deal for me. I have left home without my iPhone and not been overly concerned but I only take my Watch Ultra off to charge it when I’m showering in the morning. If for some unimaginable reason I left home without it, I would absolutely have to go back and get it.

Unfortunately you can’t do that natively. The best you can do is have your activity rings and tapping that will open the activity app to see how many steps you’ve taken so far. If you want a step counter complication on your watch face you’ll need an app from the App Store. Just search for “steps complication”. That brought up a whole bunch of options.

  • I know there’s a feature built into macOS for acquiring images from your phone. No third party apps required. Not sure if it works for video too. Might be worth a try looking around in QuickTime Player… I’m sure there has be something there. If I can stream a live video feed from my phone’s camera to my Watch and you can now use your phone as the camera for FaceTime video calls on an AppleTV then you must be able to do what you’re asking on a MacBook Pro!
