  • Yup this is what I was gonna say. What I have to add though is those GPUs are for things like engineering (air flow simulation for example), 3d modeling, animation, etc. They are typically more expensive than their gaming oriented GPU counter part which in this case as mentioned is a 3060. For video editing, you can find a 3060 or maybe even a 4060 or 4070 for similar prices to work stations like that with better performance for your use case.

  • Lagging as in going lower frame rate in games than you expect or just not responsive in general tasks? Depending on what it is, my friend did have this problem just on normal daily tasks and I had him open the Omen software that the device came with and switch the mode to performance mode. Turned out it was set to silent. (if you have the GTX 1650 gpu it will not have this option). If doing this doesn’t fix it, check the task manager to see how much RAM is being used up, if that’s the issue you should find what’s using it up.

If it has a feature to do so, set it up to only charge up to 80%. This’d be the best possible way, if not it still should be fine charged normally until July. You should try to use it a bit when you can though just so if there are any defects with it you can catch them during the return window.

  • Sorry to tell you this is normal for the GF63. MSI is notorious for significantly cutting corners when making their cheaper gaming laptops and the GF63 is the worst of them. There are common build issues like if you pull the screen all the way back the keyboard deck starts to snap off (JarrodsTech showed this one) and its hinges are known to break early. Honestly there more than likely is a better deal out there that we could discuss if you’re still in the return window as this year the GF63 was overpriced.

For your task of 4k video editing, yes. The GPU and RAM will have a bigger effect here. The Asus may perform a little bit better in areas where the CPU has a bigger impact such as 1080p gaming but again not to an extent you would notice. To be honest it’s a tossup in CPU performance, the Lenovo’s 13620 has the same amount of performance cores but at a higher clock speed than the Asus, the Asus has more Efficiency cores which handle background and light tasks which free up the P cores. You wouldn’t really be losing out on anything from picking the Asus or the Lenovo. The two are comparable. I’d say choose from the better price between these two or which one has a better look to you if they are similarly priced as that’s something you can appreciate too.

Its easily between the Lenovo and the Asus, they have less storage space than the Acer but better graphics cards than the Acer. I’ve owned a 2021 Legion 5i which is similar build quality as the new LOQ and its not had any issues in over a year, build feels solid, and cooling is great. Asus Tuf since it has a i7 12700 may edge out the LOQ slightly since the LOQ has a 13620 which is a newer but cut down version of the new i7 (less cores). However, it will not be a noticeable difference. Get the Asus or Lenovo, whichever is priced better.

Certainly it’ll do fine for what you listed here, though it may struggle with some less optimized titles especially newer ones. There are better deals on bestbuy though, look up 4060 laptop and you should be able to find a Legion Slim 5 and a Gigabyte laptop at similar prices for more performance.
