There is a definite “cool kid” factor among Apple users. To suggest that an Android device might be better is to show your true colors – as uncool.

But maybe the iPad is better. I’ve owned two Samsung tablets. They were nicely made but underpowered, underprovisioned with RAM, and slow. Android updates stopped coming after a year or so, and a year after that, apps stopped working on the hardware, because the OS was too slow. Apple updates the iPad for five or six years, so the iPad is probably a better value proposition. I prefer Android myself, but a heavy user friend who have owned both types of tablet won’t buy anything but iPad at this point.
