A very simple question, why when someone asks, for example, Galaxy Tab vs ipad on r/samsung, we (as community) actually consider recommending the iPad, instead of saying that only Samsung is an option?

If you ask the same question on the apple community they will laugh at you for even comparing an Android device with apple, and they will tell you that apple is your only friend.

Shouldn’t we consider that we actually influence someone’s decisions, and knowing this, recommend only Samsung devices, we are not here to praise apple.

What do u think about this?

If you ask r/apple about preferred browser or maps, most would say Safari & Apple Maps when they’re far more superior apps than those two. They would consume everything Apple throws at them.

This forum is not representative. There are millions of Samsung users and how many answers will you get for your questions? 5, 10, maybe 20? And you think this means anything? Some random 10 answers speak for 100 million of users of Samsung hardware?

Same with Apple or Pixel forums. What you get is some biased opinions of very few.

That’s why it’s better to ask all subreddits. And carefully determine quality comments from fan comments. And beyond that, in depth searching about each product is important. Reddit, youtube, Facebook, even comments from gsmarena, as extensive as possible. Even when watching youtube reviews, it’s important to discern the reviewers’ biases.

Samsung users, Android users aren’t subscribed to tribal thinking like those from Apple. They made Apple products part of of their personality, status symbols lol. People here are just more open to whatever kind of electronics that would fit their needs regardless of the brand hehe.

That’s true for many Android users. But Samsung has their own cult and in my experience they’re worse than Apple fans. I know, because I used to be one.

I browse the ipad subreddit from time to time and this is not entirely true. People there will still recognize the tab s8 as a great device for media consumption, due to amoled and 120Hz. I have seen threads where they recommended it over the regular ipad and old ipad air/pro. They just generally think the ipad is better for art (procreate) and some specific work apps. It is not entirely wrong lol.

Apple bros are insane. They spend double the amount for a slightly superior product(sometimes) and huff copium.

There is a definite “cool kid” factor among Apple users. To suggest that an Android device might be better is to show your true colors – as uncool.

But maybe the iPad is better. I’ve owned two Samsung tablets. They were nicely made but underpowered, underprovisioned with RAM, and slow. Android updates stopped coming after a year or so, and a year after that, apps stopped working on the hardware, because the OS was too slow. Apple updates the iPad for five or six years, so the iPad is probably a better value proposition. I prefer Android myself, but a heavy user friend who have owned both types of tablet won’t buy anything but iPad at this point.

Personal experience with android tablets has been extremely negative. My ipad from 5 years ago is still kicking and kicking extremely well, meanwhile my android tablets wanted a replacement every year or so.

Which is weird considering how amazing android phones are.

When Samsung starts making tablets that are better than the iPad then sure, we should recommend the Samsung tablet. Why would you recommend a product to someone unless you actually believe it’s a better product?

What kind of question even is this? This is a discussion forum, not a Samsung employees club or Samsung investors club. Are you suggesting we should lie to people and pretend all Samsung products are always our favorite? Are you a Samsung employee?

I think Samsung makes a lot of good products but I’m not going to pretend they’re the best if they’re not. I’m in this sub only because i own some Samsung products and I’m interested in what the company is doing etc. Not because I worship Samsung.

I think Samsung should make a tablet that is better than the iPad pro. When that happens, I’ll recommend the Samsung tablet. It’s pretty simple. This question is hilarious.

Honestly it could be Samsung hardware isn’t very good and the iPad is maybe the best product apple makes. I’d never own and apple product and worked in the cellular industry for 10+ years . I use Samsung at this point as an only choice but their UI and hardware are awful for a premium product. I was getting 2-3 years out of LG V series phones until they got out fo the market. S21U/S22U both lasted less than 10 months. Samsung tablets get pretty bad screen burn in and have battery swelling issues " I use them in the hundreds if not thousands". At and enterprise level Samsung tablets are considered disposable and a year is amazing out of one , we get 3-4 years out of iPads. Longevity wise Lenovo tablets have lasted at least twice as long for half the price so 🤷‍♂️. Basically the opinion could be based on the application, Samsung tabs are just not very good. Apple people are a cult. Apple computers are over priced computers with shockingly poor service if your at enterprise level and very hit or miss in terms of quality. iPhones are great if you don’t user then and a charge 3 times a day scenerio if your a power user which alone makes them a non options. iPad is simply the best product they make and the worst seller in a dieing industry.

One’s a cult that demands exclusive loyalty whereas Samsung just chills it back. I do feel that Samsung don’t talk enough about their features ie the spen before the Apple pencil, fingerprint scanners etc. But then I think this might be because they’re not trying to shove a product down your throat with features you don’t understand - they instead want people to try and find something perfect for them and find a Samsung that fills the gap where Apple can’t.

You would infer that us Samsung / Android users are critical thinkers and are objective in our opinions - so we are less biased and therefore more honest. And the truth is though - an iPad is a better tablet (in my view). I think iOS is perfect for that form factor.

On smartphone screens I find it too non-functional, and very boring to look at and use (grid of square apps and occasionally a bigger widget square) - yes it’s got some clever design touches but so does Android / OneUI. It’s not unique like it was a decade ago. I have an iPhone12 work phone and a Flip5 personal phone. My work phone experience is I tap an app, I use the app, I go back to the grid of apps, and then I tap on another app. Nothing in-between that flow - unlike my Flip5 (I’ve had Samsung phones for about 8 years now) which has a full size calendar on the home screen, e-mail widgets, Bixby routines and dual screen apps etc.

On a big desktop screen iOS wouldn’t work with a keyboard and mouse etc. I think that’s obvious.

On a tablet though - it’s perfect. It’s hard to explain but that 8" to 12" screen works the best with it. And when I’m using a big slab of screen with touch-input only, I want the OS to be simple so it’s not annoying to operate quickly. And the cleaner look of iOS fits better with a tablet somehow better than it does on the iPhone - you can actually see more of the design language of iOS on that bigger screen, and it makes it way more impressive to look at. I wouldn’t unhappy at all with a nice Samsung tablet and S-Pen, but I’d be happier if I was given an iPad and Apple Pencil.

I have both iPad and Galaxy Tab in my household. Apple products are garbage. I don’t understand why people keep parroting that they are easy to use. They are not.

Depends on usage. There are apps that are either exclusive to ipads or have better software experience in ipads (example, procreate)

If I’m asked about tablets and all the user told me are apps that are included in playstore, then i usually recommend android (not particularly samsung). If they tell me they will need a pen, and is very particular with pen performance, that’s the time i recommend a samsung product.

As for me, i bought a samsung tablet for drawing. Im not a hardcore artist so sketchbook is good enuf for me, never considered an ipad. But if not for the spen heck I won’t even consider a samsung.
