Joy beyond. Congratulations.
Ah, I thought I was the only one. I see everyone bemoaning the passing of mere DAYS when we went for MONTHS of resorting to algorithmic auguries from a human Phil, to keep ourselves sane, before actually being ALLOWED to pay and THEN beginning the final waiting period. Kids these days, Kuit.
My Deck OLED is still in its box. I need to apply the screen protector to it before using it.
The Deck is a revolutionary work of art. I share your happiness with it. My wife and I fought hard to buy our original 512 LCDs on launch day and got them delivered FOREVER later. But waiting was made easier by the amount of people waiting along with us, the expectations, the algorithm (crazy) that was made to determine right around when each person would get it based on when their payment had gone through… It was an instant sub-culture that gor formed. And then when the Decks finally arrived, they surpassed any and all expectations. The fact that they run Linux, breaking the Windows stranglehold on PC games forever, the brilliant design that seems massive but is so comfortable. The sound, the constant support, the amount of 3rd party products, and the quality they normally have. Every aspect of the experience, let alone how well games run on it (Elden Bloody Ring, for crying out loud). Everything is unique, stylish, optimized and a true step forward. And that is what other handheld users do not get: The Steam Deck is a complete package. An experience. The specs do not even remotely reflect the whole story.
I got the order for my LE through, maybe 12 minutes after launch, though I put it in the cart the absolute instant it was available. You all know the way it went down. You were all there when the aliens came out of nowhere to deny us our own and mock our efforts, their purple and green faces leering like Azathoth’s blind pipers, whispering lies while we clung to hope and fought undaunted to win our dream, playing all the time with a deck stacked against us. But, I just received it on the 22nd. The tracking number never worked until the very day it was delivered when it indicated “Out for Delivery”. The notice changed only a few hours before it was actually delivered. So, just hold fast. It will be there. Those of us who made it through The Long Wait for the original Deck after that first launch day, have had to learn patience such as would make Lord Morpheus seem antsy.
Oh! Also:
On your Steam App, under Account, go to Purchase History. That will show your order status, tracking number when available, everything.
Limited Edition? Really?
You do not want to know how long those of us who bought the original Steam Deck on launch day had to wait for.
Circumstances are completely different now, however. Their shipping time for the OLED LE Steam Deck was listed as weeks (1 to 4, hard to know what it will be). You received confirmation for your purchase via E-Mail like you do every time you buy a game on Steam. You will receive another E-Mail from Steam Support telling you they are “preparing your items to ship”. That E-Mail will have a “Track” button on it.
Just stay put. They are extremely reliable and the Customer Service for the Steam Deck is absolutely extraordinary.
Heheheheh! We could have just done it today and be spared the misery from the first hour. I know I am Pavloved for life into kicking, tearing and screaming while refreshing furiously to get this sort of product at launch, after the battle it was getting the original 512 on Launch Day a couple of years ago.
Yes… I do not know how Limited the Limited Edition is. They are in stock today at 9:58 A.M.
Joy and misery both love company
