HDR is built into the panel so it should be working fine, you’ll see HDR on the Quick Settings access if you’re playing a game that’s HDR enabled.

The OLED Deck shouldn’t creak since it uses threaded metal inserts whereas the LCD uses self tapping screws meaning it loses integrity everytime it’s taken apart.
Thank you for the heads up, the QR codes refresh every 30 seconds or so, it’s long since expired.
Gonna sell mine to a coworker, I was going to skip updating to OLED until he offered to buy it and I think the upgrades Valve made are easily worth $150
I’m sure they could swap since all joysticks are just covers that go onto a nub, but the OLED joysticks feel 10x better so you probably wouldn’t want to.
I believe that’s tied to your account’s purchase history
Sounds like you answered your own question. My Steam Deck is a companion device to my PC.
Kind of lame that the 512 GB OLED doesn’t include the dual carrying case. It’s still a premium product that costs $600 after tax and they couldn’t throw in the dual case?
For Jak 1/2 I’d recommend OpenGOAL over emulation
Keep in mind that OLED Decks will mostly likely be unobtainable for the first few months like new consoles are. Before you make any decision you should wait for reviews to come out and decide if the upgrades to the OLED Model are worth the increased price.
Not sure if it’ll help you decide but for me it’s a pretty solid no, I won’t be upgrading until there’s a faster Deck on offer. I think the LCD screen looks good enough for a handheld, my WiFi chip is fast enough already, and the increased battery capacity is awesome but I rarely play my Deck anywhere that isn’t 50 feet from an outlet anyways. There’s a lot of FOMO going on currently, I’d wait it out until I could make a 100% informed decision if I were you.
I’ve always felt like the LCD screen is perfectly fine for what it is, never once have I thought “man I would be enjoying my Deck a lot more if it had 100% sRBG coverage!”. The bigger battery is way more exciting to me, if I could put the bigger battery in my V1 Deck I would but from what I understand the bigger battery is only possible because the OLED screen doesn’t require a backlight.
I get 4.5 hours of Mass Effect LE at 90 fps, it’s insane.
