Watching nothing but CNN for 24/7 doesn’t seem like a particularly realistic test. Also basing conclusions on a sample of 1 is also rather misleading.

I am curious about why this form factor is so much more popular than mini laptop like GPD Win Max 2
It has a smaller footprint making it easier to carry. The fact that it is a fully enclosed laptop means, you don’t need a carrying case. You aren’t going to accidentally snag a joystick and break it off while it is in your bag without a case.
You also have a normal keyboard and mouse which lets you use it a standard laptop. Windows UI is build around the use of keyboard and mouse and this provides it.
That very much depends on what you mean by best portable gaming device. It will have the best display and best hdr, but most other handhelds will handily outperform Steam Deck since the apu wasn’t upgraded.
What’s you current laptop, how long did you keep and have you upgraded ram on it? From past experiences for me, I’ve upgraded laptops to 16gb but never more than that. So if the laptop comes with 16gb of ram to begin with, I am fine with it.
This is art, some people like black box, other people like that. As for the cost of electricity, that’s going to be pennies a year, not something to be concerned about.
I did not expect the Steam Deck to perform so well at 15w. Very impressive.
