Not at all. My SD is a companion to my PC to allow me to seamlessly continue games where I left off whether that’s in the couch, in bed, or on the go. But as a longtime PC gamer, the SD is going to have to get a lot more powerful before it can legitimately replace my PC gaming setup on an OLED ultrawide with a 4080.

But just think of how much better those 4hrs a week could be! :)

It’s not. Go on Valve’s website and you can see the list of all the upgrades they did. I think another user said there were 31 upgrades in total.

If you’re able to save more and have the patience to work it into your budget then I absolutely recommend holding out for an OLED model. You absolutely will not be disappointed.

I’d be surprised if they do any other refresh other than a full blown SD2. The next one they release will have to boost performance by a lot to both be competitive and offer something new for existing users. They upgraded pretty much every inch of the original SD LCD into what they consider their “definitive” first generation device. The next upgrade will carry all of these improvements forward, fixing more things that they learn about with this generation, but include a big performance increase that will be much needed 2-3 years from now when it releases.

They said it is and others have posted that it’s an improvement. They increased the polling rate and I think this new panel in general has better touchscreen capabilities. I haven’t actually used it yet. Coming from the etched LCD I’m so used to not using the touchscreen because I didn’t want to go through the hassle of cleaning it. Now with the glossy though I’ll have to use it more since cleaning it will be a lot easier.

Probably not normal as might are very tight and tactile. If it bothers you then I suggest returning it for a replacement while you’re within the 2wk window. Life is too short for compromises in my opinion and these devices aren’t exactly cheap.

What’s crazy is Valve did put in a new, smaller, more efficient APU. However, it pushes the same FPS even though it does so at lower watts so folks like to just write it off. If Valve put in a stronger APU that could push more frames then this would immediately be considered an SD2 alongside all the other upgrades.

Yes, they changed the screw type and they are now threaded into metal posts so the screws are far less likely to strip and you can open the case many times without worry of breaking down the threads too.

Yes, it’s still a big difference. I went into it with high expectations and ready to judge a lot of the features people were claiming. I am super picky and critical of this sort of stuff and I can honestly say I am blown away.

Yeah, this is definitely true. Whether it’s feeling lighter or better balanced, or both, you do immediately notice it when picking up the device and it feels much, much better to hold. I kind of eye rolled when I heard other people saying you notice it, but you absolutely do.

Mine is flawless too and I am super picky with these sorts of things.

Yep, 512GB model here with the Samsung display. No dead pixels, zero issues, all button, triggers, bumpers, etc. feel flawless and everything is perfect (and I am super picky with this stuff).

How do you like the etched screen? My 512GB just arrived today and I’m going to open it up tonight. I really wanted more than just 512GB of storage and I’m not sure I feel like opening it up for an upgrade, but I was unsure of the etched screen this time around even though I really enjoyed my 512GB LCD SD.

Longer charging cable. I don’t have my OLED yet so I won’t know what feature will be my favorite upgrade, but I damn well know I’m going to enjoy that extra cable length!

You’re not in the minority. Valve will sell exponentially more of the standard version over the LE version regardless of price, many people will just prefer the standard aesthetics.

Every AAA game will be $5-15 at some point if you’re willing to wait!
