  • I’d be surprised if they do any other refresh other than a full blown SD2. The next one they release will have to boost performance by a lot to both be competitive and offer something new for existing users. They upgraded pretty much every inch of the original SD LCD into what they consider their “definitive” first generation device. The next upgrade will carry all of these improvements forward, fixing more things that they learn about with this generation, but include a big performance increase that will be much needed 2-3 years from now when it releases.

  • They said it is and others have posted that it’s an improvement. They increased the polling rate and I think this new panel in general has better touchscreen capabilities. I haven’t actually used it yet. Coming from the etched LCD I’m so used to not using the touchscreen because I didn’t want to go through the hassle of cleaning it. Now with the glossy though I’ll have to use it more since cleaning it will be a lot easier.

  • What’s crazy is Valve did put in a new, smaller, more efficient APU. However, it pushes the same FPS even though it does so at lower watts so folks like to just write it off. If Valve put in a stronger APU that could push more frames then this would immediately be considered an SD2 alongside all the other upgrades.
