4090 wins at 4K/UHD I see in the original test. Yet this is nothing new. COD favors AMD but its a console slap port.

Nothing about 6800XT/3080 performance is considering “fire” in 2023. Yet its fine for some people.

I doubt 7800XT is selling well. The card was delayed for like almost 1 year because AMD wanted to sell out 6800 and 6900 inventory and 7800XT is replaced next year by RDNA4, which will have no high-end SKUs but still a 8800XT that will beat 7800XT for sure.

AMD is cheaper for a reason yeah.

AMD needs to heavily improve their feature-set if they want to stay competitive. I know alot of people that play games and build rigs. Almost none of them uses AMD GPU now. Many uses AMD CPU but still wants Nvidia GPU because of DLSS, Frame Gen, DLAA, DLDSR, Reflex, RT Perf, CUDA, ShadowPlay and I could almost go on.

AMD is years behind on features in general. Not only RT perf.

Yet some people still think RT is the only reason why RTX is great.

FSR is even beat by XeSS in many games. FSR mostly works “alright” in 4K/UHD but still loses to DLSS, especially in motion. There’s far more jitter, shimmering and jaggies with FSR and AMD still has no answer to DLAA which is downright awesome if you have power to spend. Best AA solution by far today.

However DLSS have built-in AA too.

AMD should ignore RT performance and go all-on on countering DLSS, DLAA and Frame Gen really.

Tons of RTX users don’t enable RT but use the fps boosting features instead.

RTX users should always use DLSS because its superior. TechSpot tested this in depth recently. I hope both AMD and Intel will be able to improve their upscaling tech.

4090 easily beats 7900XTX in rasterization as well. Unless you cherrypick games. 4090 is like 25% faster on average. 4080 performs the same and 4080 Ti is coming soon.

AMD has been in trouble for years. Their raster performance is fine, however, their features are not on par with Nvidias and overall performance across many games tends to favor Nvidia bigtime, especially if you look at lesser popular titles, early access titles and betas. Nvidia always have launch driver ready. AMD mostly don’t.

Nvidia software team and engineers are simply way more people. Nvidia spends a ton on R&D. AMD don’t really. Their GPU business is not that important to AMD. They mainly wants to sell CPUs and APUs.

They bought ATi to get better at GPUs in general, for use in APUs or do custom APUs like PS5/XSX. They never meant to chase high-end like Nvidia does and AMD don’t have the funds to compete at this level. This is why they are years behind on features and RT perf. They have been playing catch up for years.

I don’t hate AMD. I use AMD CPU (7800X3D). However I use RTX 4090 because AMD don’t really have a GPU that makes me interrested. Besides, I love to use DLAA and DLSS if RT is used. FSR is inferior to DLSS and AMD has no answer to DLAA.

I also like Reflex and DLDSR depending ongames. AMD has no answer either. VSR is not even close to DLDSR (which uses tensor cores to limit the performance hit and DLSS can be applied on top). Anti Lag + is as close to Reflex you will get and this got 1000s of people banned in CS2 lately and AMD pulled the feature in driver.

So yeah, AMD is not doing that well in the dGPU market, regardless of what people think.

Nvidia dominates Gaming GPUs, Enterprise and AI GPU market.

Would I want AMD be more competetive? Yeah sure, but they can’t afford too. They need to focus on low to mid-end markets and this is exactly what they will do with RDNA4 in 2024. No high-end SKUs at all.
