The thing is, Valve is always working on games.
Most of them never get released but they are always working on games.
Still waiting for the limited edition to be available here in Australia.
Any moment now I’m sure.
Small changes? For what was meant to be a minor refresh, Valve more or less improved every single thing that anyone complained about with one upgrade.
Sure we’d all love the Steam Deck to be also twice as fast. But we’d also all like a pony and a million dollars too. You can technically make a handheld that is faster, but doing so would murder the battery life. And there’s not much utility in a handheld that can’t be used for longer than an hour without plugging it in. Valve made the smart choice to give a very slight bump in performance while focusing on just ramping up battery life.
Considering it’s only been less than 2 years since the first gen version of the Deck came out, I think the Deck OLED is a great refresh.
Ran fine for me when I played it. Was especially great with gyro. Maybe check your settings?
First hour or so, my brain was like ‘YOU NEED THIS YOU NEED THIS YOU NEED THIS’ but I’ve settled down now and I’m back to only ‘I really want that’. But I’m going to restrain myself. I already own 1 Steam Deck 512GB model, and I’ve bought 2 as gifts for friends, so I’m not going to buy a 4th one … yet.
But damn is it tempting. My current Steam Deck gets a crack in the screen or a button comes off, and bam, upgrade time!
About 450 or so on my deck right now. I pick a different one each week to try.
