Yes I get that it kind of sucks having just bought one and then a new one gets announced but some people are in a panic now. Your Deck is not obsolete. It is still the best handheld pc you can buy right now. Enjoy it.
I’ll only get it if they offer a trade in program or my LCD breaks
I actually sold my Deck yesterday. Before the announcement. Because I wasn’t using it enough, and the discrepancy between the OLED Switch and the Deck‘s LCD was too much.
But now I want an OLED one. I probably don’t need it. But I want it.
I literally got mine 3 weeks ago FML but yeah it’s awesome and I’ll still thoroughly enjoy it. Until I get an OLED eventually lol
IT IS TO ME!!
The gaming nerd in me really wants the OLED steam deck. But in reality I can’t justify the purchase. For what I use my steam deck for, the current one works perfectly fine. So unless my daughter suddenly takes an interest in wanting a steam deck (in which case I could justify giving mine to her and buying the new one) then I’m probably just going to wait until the next more powerful one comes out several years down the road or whatever.
Eh I’m not too tempted, my deck is still relatively new and runs everything great (mostly because the games I play are the opposite of graphically demanding). Yeah I would like more battery life but I also usually play at home so
Thank you very much indeed. I could no realize it without your words :-/
Cheapest, not best
I know it’s not obsolete but it’s pretty hard to not be a little frustrated when they fixed literally everything that I wanted to be improved. And I just bought a steam deck not too long ago so that’s kind of stressing me out now
I bought the 64GB LCD at $349 now after seeing the news. It’s a great price for such a machine. Don’t need the extra bells and whistles.
The thing that is encouraging to me is that this refresh has updated so many things that we as the userbase wanted to be improved, better display (including smaller bezels), better battery life etc which means that even with the timing being unfortunate for some people, it does bode well for any future Steamdeck releases if they keep such a focus on understanding what we want improving and how to do that in future products just as they have also done with SteamOS too.
Everything is obsolete in 18 months, Moore’s Law 🥸
I haven’t looked at my deck screen since day one. It’s a home console for me and I love it
oled isnt good they have black smearing
If you play a lot of games that eat your battery, the improved one might be nice. I mainly play smaller indie games on my deck though so I’m content with what I have.
