Right? I would try and type on it for little things in konsole etc and I’d always have missing letters bc it just never got all of the taps. So lame.
The touch screen feels so much more responsive than my lcd. Huge upgrade for me.
Screen protector! I hate any marks on my device screens, so it’s a must for me. IMO any cheap set of glass screen protectors on Amazon look exactly the same as the expensive ones. Plus they come in a pack of a couple normally so you can mess up and not pull your hair out. If you do see a big difference in clarity w the cheap ones after installing, then bite the bullet for a fancier branded one.
I also like skins on my consoles for the same reason. Protection and some added flare.
And an extra charger with a long cable. Easier than dragging it around the house back and forth.
Ok ok fine. I’m going to go put one on mine right now. I don’t really want to looks wise, but I will kick babies if I get a mark in the screen.
I can’t remember which YouTuber did it, but someone that came up when I searched “steam deck oled vs lcd” does an in depth with and without glass protector on the etched oled. He dives into the pros and cons. Super helpful.
If you have an lcd model w the protector on it, try lifting it off gently and putting it onto the oled and test it out. Personally I have a second cheapo one that came in a pack when I got my lcd (also etched) so I’m going to try it. I kept the glass one on my lcd bc I’ll be damned if it gets those tiny scratches. And I have parrots. My expensive things need all the help they can get in my home 😂
Oh. My. Nerdy lord. Would you mind messaging me where you found this initial d ps2 emulator?
Mine did this yesterday after finally updating to 3.5.5
I had to go into the sound settings in desktop mode and make the normal speaker choice default bc it wouldn’t do it in game mode. For the moment that seems to have fixed it in game mode. From all of the googling I did yesterday, it looks like a huge bug in 3.5.5.
I switched to experimental and it didn’t fix it immediately, but I went to desktop and changed the sound settings (a whole mess on its own) went back to desktop and still had the problem. Then I went back to stable, back to desktop, and then it started working normally.
Thank goodness steam makes it easier to switch versions and change settings. Not like meta effing my quest pro in the ass since march.
Same here. I’ve gone back and forth in desktop mode and disabled everything except the built in speakers. I’ll have audio in desktop mode once I re select the speakers, but when I go back to gaming mode sound is gone again. If I then go back to desktop, again, it’s unselected speakers again. Same thing round and round.
Bluetooth is off, I’ve never used anything except the built in speakers. Yadda yadda.
I updated to 3.5.5 stable this morning and I’m pissed that I did.
Not all hero’s wear capes. Thanks for this incredibly in depth report. I’m excited to see the oled tests.
I didn’t even think about the possibility of them swapping just the screens. I also completely forgot about the warranty being longer than the 14 day return period. Duh. Thanks for that!
