The M1 MBA is such a staggeringly better computer. You won’t look back. The only thing you could possibly miss would be 2” of screen size.

If that’s a 14” M1 Pro MBP as it appears to be in the photo, then even at $1,100 with that battery I’d say it’s a great buy.
It’s funny how green bubbles and iMessage get all the blame for the result of Apple having literally created a better product.
That’s an m3 MacBook!
Regardless of how much RAM a machine has, don’t buy one that can’t do what you need it to do.
Full stop.
Man, I’d love it backlit, but in practice it’s not an issue for me. The massive desktop screen I’m using lights up the whole room, and especially the keyboard. The backlighting is much more important on the laptop keyboards imo.
I love that machine. The UI is surprisingly fast for it being only integrated graphics. Four cores and 16 GB still get the job done great.
Mine’s running Ventura via OCLP and if it were my only computer due to budgetary constraints, I would be 100% perfectly happy with it.
If a 2017 Intel MBP is acceptable to you CPU-wise right now, M2 vs. M1 won’t make a lick of difference for you. That said, the M2 MBA case design is updated, and the screen is slightly larger. You may enjoy the newer design more.
You can get an M1 MBA on eBay for $650-750 with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage though, so that’s INCREDIBLY hard to beat.
