Android sucks. It feels like a budget, second-rate product. It’s not polished. It’s for nerds who like to customize everything. You open the web browser and it just seems janky. That’s my experience.
Since day one, Android has focussed on the bottom end of the market as they tried to compete with Apple. Apple targets the premium end of the market.
Even among inexpensive options, once a brand is known for being cheap, a lot of people don’t want to associate with it. This is how Target kicked Kmart’s ass. Both were discount retail, but Target presented their stores as being affordable luxury whereas Kmart was cheap. Saying you got something at Target was cool. Saying you got something at Kmart would have been embarrassing.
Apple isn’t like Target though. Apple is like Nordstrom or Saks. Android is Kmart.
Android doesn’t focus on a particular market segment the phone makers make that choice, and so there are Android phones across the whole range of prices.
This makes no sense. Android has $1800 phones.
It sucks. I was getting hot and heavy with my 1st real gf. But her parents came home she told me to send a picture of my dick to her as I snuck out. I had just gotten the new pixel 8 pro after having iPhones for years. I snapped a shot and sent it and then she said “you don’t have a blue bubble? Well youre gonna have blue balls you fucking dweeb, bye Felicia!”
Kids need to be reminded that being a hacker is super fucking cool, and you aren’t doing cool hackery shit on iOS.
I’m an iPhone user. But I’m also an old school hacker guy. I really want kids to learn more about this stuff.
Computing and the internet being a little bit difficult used to be a feature, not a bug. You had to learn a baseline to get involved. It wasn’t accessible, but it was effective. We need more of that.
I’m really tired of helping a Gen Z person troubleshoot a problem on their PC and them struggling to understand what a path is or how to navigate a Windows filesystem to find what they need. You know? We’re failing these kids and young adults. We’re failing them so badly. We need to make this stuff cool again.
I love how this entire article highlights how fucking brain dead Americans are. Text bubbles and better advertising? Holy shit.
Embarrassing.I used to have an s23 ultra and loved it. But all of my family have iPhones and share locations. It’s much more convenient. I also got tired of the comments of me Not having an iPhone. I caved. Got a 15 max.
Well yeah, no one wants to look poor.
Instagram and Snapchat pump out better content on iPhone versus Instagram (video quality)and those things matter to the teenagers
Also weirdly the fonts used when posting stories or applying text to videos and photos are so different for iPhone versus android it’s a dead giveaway.
I will never, ever buy or use an apple product, but this failure is mostly on google. Just look at how slowly android is rolling out the findmy network. It’s like they aren’t even interested in being competitive.
That company lost its way and its soul well before 2009, when the value of search plummeted. I hope they fail completely, so that apple will face anti-trust actions in multiple megaregions.
'American Teenagers"
important distinction because the rest of the world don’t give a fuck about what colour your text appear on iMessage
They do because they use other apps to chat.
This is only a US and Canada Problem.
It’s true, really.
If teenagers wants a cool phone, don’t get them one.
It’s imessage.
If android phones showed up in imessage as red bubbles or purple bubbles but everything still worked OR if Apple released iMessage for Android very few would actually care about the type of phone used .
I live in Japan and work for a Japanese company.
My personal phone is an iphone.
My work phone is an iphone.
I don’t know anyone with an android phone, anyone.
I also don’t know anyone who uses imessage. Japanese use LINE and foreigners use LINE and WhatsApp.
Who buys phones for these teens?
