someThrowawayGuy@alien.topBtoSteam Deck•PSA: New Steam Deck Recovery OS Image - And What It Means To YOUEnglish

1 year agoWhile we’re talking about this … don’t burn the image to a device and tuck it away without testing it first. Based on this sub, 8 out of 10 people are using devices that do NOT show up in the Steam boot menu.
I 100% guarantee that’s because they didn’t partition with GPT. If a drive has already been partitioned, chances are the tooling (Rufus, Etcher, etc) won’t change the partition type. This is user error, nothing to do with hardware.
I got the deluxe edition today for $32.90USD + tax: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/hogwartslegacydeluxeedition/info/
The wifey and I played the “free” version for a bit, and it required me to increase the VRAM via the UEFI (BIOS) to 4GB, otherwise it simply would not start. It generally played well, but would still run out of system memory from time to time. That version was based on a pretty old release from Feb 14, 2023, and the dev team has pumped out a ton of performance updates, so I suspect it will be MUCH better.
I was planning on giving it to my wife for Christmas, so I can’t confirm if it truly runs better and maybe doesn’t need the VRAM change, but if you look at the changelog posted you’ll see they put in some serious fixes!
