So no point in making Linux or Windows that can run 100% within GPU and leaving a very minimal CPU to handle data transfer between drives, keyboard, etc and GPU.

I’d like to see someone with a 4090 GPU running Windows and a Motorola 68000 as the CPU to handle drives.

New PCB but reusing existing cooler from original GPU? It looks like the Chinese are making the PCB smaller and moving the power connector to the side and using the standard 8 pin PCIe rather than 12vhpwr which is thick, can start fire if it’s the older version, and be an issue with clearance on top of the GPU.

And I hated base2 network, so fiddy to work with and can be unreliable if a terminator was removed by a prankster or if there’s a faulty network hardware somewhere. BaseT was the best of both reliable and cheap.

I still remember a trick to remember which is which: hub, switch, and router. A hub is like an intersection with only stop sign. Good for low traffic but high collision risk with high traffic. Switch is like an intersection with traffic light, better for high traffic. And router is like an intersection with police car present to enforce traffic.

Spectacular and embarrassing failure usually gets -gate added. Like Deflategate, and more. Watergate started the -gate fails.

And a mosfet between Arduino and the fan. Arduino generally tops out at 20mA per pin which is 0.1w. A decent mosfet can handle several amps and can even drive 12v fan from a 5v pin.

/r/AskElectronics should be a good place to ask for the right kind of mosfet that is able to handle 1A or more (want to have some margin), can be driven by 5v at gate pin and can handle 12v at source and drain pin.

I’ve taken apart a few old laptops. Most of the fingerprint reader is an entire board and circuitry in a small package with 4 conductor cable to the motherboard. If it is USB, OP could shove a fingerprint scanner inside the mouse but OP would also need to add an USB hub to connect the mouse and fingerprint reader to one cable going to the computer.

EDIT: disregard below paragraph, I missed the part about wireless. I’ve never seen a wireless fingerprint scanner

Not hard to do though, it depends on how much space is inside and how careful OP can be for wiring them up and mounting the reader so it can read without making ugly cutout
