I’m asking because Geekbench 6 only shows a 24% better single core score, The snappiness of my system it feels a lot more that 24% faster, Do you think the increased cache or the 5Ghz clock speed in the real world is a lot more than 24% faster? Thanks for any info

    Geekbench is a pretty poor benchmark…

    There are also differences between Windows OS and macOS so it’s not a fair comparison for snappiness as they’ll feel different even on exactly the same hardware.

    It could be down to SSD speeds, better faster storage can make a system feel snappier. But because the Intel chip isn’t power limited, it can clock to the moon, just letting it get more stuff done per cycle. M1 is great because it gets close enough to that level of performance while sipping electricity and being portable

        That depends on the config you get. Base capacities are all single chip, very poor speed (and endurance) actually, even on their $1600 laptops. M2 pro 14" is like this and it’s quite appalling for a laptop this expensive.

        Not true. PCIE Gen 4 SSDs can go to 6 GB/s (or even more). Even Apple’s most expensive laptop I guess is limited to 4.5 GB/s (if I am right). Their recent M3 SSDs go up to like 4GB/s (as shown by MaxTech).

    Animations, the first thing I turn off with any os. I hate them, why have an animation when it makes things slower.

      Windows got even snappier after I ran I think it was the LeDragoX Win Debloat tool, turned off all the telemetry and bing in the start menu stuff that made simple search slower by adding in networking, and turned on the visual performance profile.

      Miles and miles away from the default macOS “look how smooooth I am” animation now, pretty much as fast as I go. I also set the animation times for macOS all the way down, but some are just in different places.

        In our windows domain a lot of those settings are also enabled.

      Loading a daily mail page for a example, scrolling down as all the ads loads, My M1 Max would stutter, it works flawlessly on my new pc

      Same. M1 air and a 12400 desktop. Functionally, they’re both as fast as I need them to be, which I can’t say for the Sandy Bridge workstation I just retired.

    My 13900k claims double the performance in benchmarks. But the real-world performance is only feels like 25%. Seems like other bottlenecks

    M1 Max and modern Ryzen user here. My M1 Max feels equally, if not more, snappy than latest gen Ryzen.

    If your M1 Max is struggling then thats abnormal. Its still plenty powerful

    My 13900k precision work station at work running win 11 freezes when I open the little WiFi/bluetooth/whatever bar by the clock for about 1-3seconds.

    You could put anything running windows 11 next to anything 10 years old running non windows and the older pc will be snappier.

    This post smells of bs.

    Judging from your comments OP, it might just be more GPU based than CPU based, if you really wanna compare browsers stuff then turn off hardware based accelartion.

    In terms of benchmarks, my 12700H seems to beat the M1 Max in almost all the benchmarks (excluding the GPU). So, there is no doubt that your 13700K would destroy M1 Max. But, optimization is the key, Microsoft seems to be doing a fairly good job recently to optimize and fine-tune Windows. IMO, if Microsoft spent some amount of their time optimizing Windows, they would clearly beat MacOS. No doubt about that.

    I have a 13700k and my wife has a m2 macbook pro

    The macbook feels way too sluggish to me and if lower power mode is on…oh boy that thing is a slug.
