Hello,

I’ll be making an investment into a new phone soon after using my note 8 since launch. Due to financial reasons it’ll be a huge investment and I want to make the right call. My note 8s battery barely lasts me 3/4ths of a day now.

I feel like it would feel like a downgrade if I got the S23+ with FHD resolution but the price gap is quite large too. Does the Ultras battery last longer than plus? What about the hardware? Is it worth the investment? I do use my phones for 4+ years.

What would you guys recommend?

The resolution won’t be noticeable and I always drop my phones to the lowest resolution to save on battery life. The S23+ is also slightly smaller, so ppi is better.

You could also hold out for the S24 launch, or at least wait for holiday sales as they try to get rid of old stock before the new launch.

      resolution won’t be noticeable

Except it does. Dropping your screen resolution in software doesn’t magically change the pixel layout, all the pixels are still on.

Dropping resolution doesnt do much for extending batterylife on social media apps…lowering gaming settings or refresh rate does…and text will be noticably sharper on native wqhd…but why would you buy flagship phone then??

        And Exynos, except US.

        Ugh I really hope not.

Seems like Exynos is known for being super buggy (I’ve had major issues on my S22U which seem like they’re exynos related) so why would they bring it back?

Sounds good. Although I’m not sure how much more expensive it would be, especially in Türkiye. We get it more expensive than other countries with a worse economy for some (taxes) reason.

Definitely go for the S23 Ultra (or S24 Ultra if you can wait). The S23+ as you said has a 1080p display (definitely check it out in person and see if you notice any difference) plus doesn’t have an S Pen which might be a deal-breaker for you.

Can’t you set the note 8 to FHD resolution? Maybe try that for awhile for an idea of how the plus would look and see how much of a difference you notice and whether that’s good enough for you.

Idk about the plus but the battery life comparisons show the S23U easily exceeding all day battery life for most users. The SD8G2 made some pretty big efficiency improvements over previous generations so battery life shouldn’t be a problem with either option, I would think.

Otherwise you’re paying for the stylus, slightly bigger display, and a better camera. IMO it’s worth it but that’s based on my financial situation and I don’t know anything about yours. If you take good enough care of your phone to make it last at least 4 years then you’re looking at a difference of like $3-5 per month USD depending on how big the cost difference is in your area, not really much of a dent in the wallet for anyone in a financial position to consider a flagship phone in the first place imo.

Note 8 is still usable…but probably laggy like my old s8+…if you are a Note user why even consider s23+??? Just get the note 11 or note 12…(s22ultra or s23ultra) or get the pre order deals s24ultra…getting the ultra will be an upgrade in every single category and ultra stalker zoom is actually usable in photo and video and the bigger battery will make it last longer… s23+ only has 120hz and camera upgrade vs note8

Just get the note 11 or note 12…(s22ultra or s23ultra)

Might be pedantic but considering there was a Note 20 it might be better to just call these the note 22 and 23 to avoid confusion lol

Oh wow forgot about that one…might be because that one was even more dissapointing than the s20ultragifgifbecause of the 60hz and lack of ultra cameras

Lol well there was also the Note 20 Ultra which improved on the S20 Ultra and also had the stylus. It was also Samsung’s last flagship phone to have an SD card slot. The base note was a joke at that price tho, might as well just save $600 or so and get a Moto stylus with those specs.

I went from Note 8 to S23 Ultra. The main improvement I notice is storage capacity and the camera. It is also faster. Everything else is improved as well, but not a huge noticeable change.

I use my old Note 8 wireless and wired chargers and they all work fine.

If money is a concern, you can get more life out of your Note 8 by buying cheap battery cases off Amazon. Although not perfect, I found I could easily get a full day of use from my Note, maybe even two, possibly three this way. The packs last maybe a year before you notice them degrade to where you might want a new battery pack. The phone gets thick, though.
