I just tried docking my Steam Deck after the update and my God is the experience so much better. I’m no longer experiencing the wifi disconnect issues I had before. And my controller isn’t randomly disconnecting.
The update also included HDR which my TV supports and wow it makes the games look amazing. I played Red Dead Redemption 2 with it on and it’s like i’m playing a different game almost. On top of that the gameplay seems smoother somehow? Even though I’m sure it’s still running at around 30fps.
I really gotta thank Valve for this amazing update. 👏
I’m still having issues with the dock update. Plugged in or not. It still says it’s disconnecting from the dock
that’s awesome to hear! the 3.5 update really did work wonders, especially with the wifi and controller issues many of us were facing. the hdr feature is indeed a game changer, it takes the gaming experience to a whole different level! just wait till you try other games, you’ll be blown away. gotta agree, big thanks to valve. 👍 enjoy your smoother gaming!
I worried of power on my deck and installing the 3.5.5 because of the se card change path …
I’m absolutely seeing more steady performance in red dead 2, in areas of the map that would see my FPS drop into the low 20s. Loving this update! The added controls over the displays colours are helping games pop a bit more too.
The inclusion of HDR is making me consider the dock actually hmmm. Was considering a ps5 to take advantage of my new oled TV but I think I’ll see how the deck looks on it. Saves me a few quid!
I have to ask, first time booting red dead after the update last night… what do you have your scaling settings set to as I now have to change my ingame resolution to the one below 1280x720 even though fsr was always on before this point even at that resolution. Unless I change the scaling mode to FIT which cuts the screen off slightly
I just set the image scaling to stretch so the game image always fits the whole screen, although I’ll still adjust the resolution to something like 720p or 1080p to make sure it looks right on my TV. Steam Deck’s FSR I just leave on.
Yeah I’m still having controller disconnect issues, and when trying to pair more than one controller at a time for multiplayer it’s even worse.
It’s too bad because the OLED will have better bluetooth but my LCD will be mostly docked for the kids to play, and they’ll have to play wired because of those disconnections.
I’m sorry to hear that. But I’m just curious what type of controllers are you using?
Connecting joycons here and it always crashes weekend third one connect.
Just FYI you can get Ethernet over power adapters that are good for 450 mbs or so. TP-Link makes good ones. You plug one into outlet near your router and connect with Ethernet cable. Then you plug in the remote to walk outlet and run Ethernet to your devices. Run setup and go.
For your switch controller try turning off rumble and haptics in settings. Mine would disconnect regularly before I tried that.
Unfortunately I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum, the latest stable release is a broken mess on my monitor with the official dock. No signal and no audio until I remove the plug from the power socket and enter desktop mode to select the correct audio channel, as soon as the Deck is put to sleep these changes are lost and I have to do the whole process again.
Sounds like possible EDID issue, I had similar issue with my 3090 and drivers from about a year ago, sometimes if you take a copy of your monitors EDID and sent it to them they can add support for it.
If it’s an off brand monitor then good luck and God speed.
Lucky you, my monitor which used to work fine before the update, doesn’t display anything and is now seen as “disconnected” after a few seconds.
I’ll wait for my new SD OLED to arrive to see if there is any improvement with a fresh out-of-the-box Deck, but otherwise I’ll think I have to ask for a replacement.
How are you getting HDR to work on RDR2? The HDR options don’t show up in the graphics settings, they only do when I run the game on Windows.
will they ever fix (if it’s even possible? idk) the issue where output to TV is lost when the dock has power plugged in? I always have to unplug, connect dock to deck, have the tv receive the output, plug power in the dock, then it works
How is ps3 emulation?
There are new gpu drivers which probably help the framerate stability a bit.
Nice I got the dock instead of the 1tb version because honestly the Ethernet port makes shit nice and I can set it on the dock and play streaming from my 4090 in bed with a controller
My steam link app doesn’t work with my deck and projector now. But that’s not a bug deal for me
Does this update help the LCD model too? I’ve got a 256 GB.
