Make sure you to run a dead pixel check before you start tinkering… now to go dumpster diving for my old steam deck ;=;
Does Valve accept RMA for dead pixels?
Mine just got stolen :)
Oh! Thanks for reminding me that I should check for dead pixels. Do you have a recommended method to do that?
A man’s fence is broken and he neess to hire someone to fix it So he goes online to find someone to fix his fence for him but he is unsatisfied with their prices, that is until he finds a Buddhist monk who will do it for free.
He is initially surprised by this and assumes it might be a fake listing, but since it’s free he feels like he has nothing to lose so he hires him.
Sure enough a few days later the monk shows up with a toolkit in hand, the man shows the monk that his fence has been ripped out of the ground and that he needs to replace it.
About an hour later the monk walks in and tells the man he is finished, and when the man goes outside he sees that the fence is perfect, thinking he can’t just tell the monk to leave after doing such a great job for free he invites the monk inside for a cup of coffee.
The man then starts talking to the monk, “It surprised me to see a monk offering services for fence repair, why do you do it?” he asked
the monk replied “Religious reasons.”
The man then says “I don’t know much about Buddhism, why do you need to repair fences?”
“Because” the monk replied, “You would be surprised at the amount of karma you get for reposting.”
You can just return it for a refund as it is within 2 weeks and buy another?
I just hope that these dead pixel reports on the OLED are not an indicator of a bigger issue and/or poor QC.
one of the main reasons i was considering the oled was because i’m sick of the cheap, creaky, uneven feeling of the original
if it’s not any improved that’ll save me $150
I bet the dead pixels will be the blackest of blacks since the screen is OLED 😁
Did you check which panel you have (BOE or Samsung)? I’m just curious
I have the LE and it has a BOE panel with 3 dead pixels
I have the LE and it has a BOE panel with 3 dead pixels
How can you tell which panel it is?
Better get refund, cause after 14 days Valve will claim it’s not covered under warranty cause single dead pixel doesn’t constitute ‘broken’.
Just received mine and I have a line of dead pixels in the dead center of the screen :P
You should be alright, my LCD model arrived with a single green stuck sub-pixel and Valve was really chill about replacing the screen.
Just got mine. Beautiful screen, but I too have a dead pixel. Anyone know how long the RMA process is?
Yep. Found a dead pixel on my LE OLED. It’s not noticeable during gameplay so I’ll probably try to live with it for a while.
3 dead pixels on my LE deck. I could live with the one in the corner but the other two are towards the middle of the screen. At least the uniformity on this panel is excellent, no green tint like the OLED switch.
The green tint on the OLED Switch was horrendous in dark scenes and people acted like I was crazy when pointing it out. This display, even with the dead pixel I have on my LE Deck, is one of the best OLED panels I’ve ever used.
Sorry about the three dead on yours. Most of my displays, including my OLED displays in my house, have dead pixels so I’m not completely surprised that my OLED Deck has a dead pixel. I’m debating playing the screen lottery, but since I don’t notice it while playing games I think I’m going to hold onto it for at least a year and maybe use it as an excuse with Valve to exchange for a new one as a ‘manufacturing defect’ even though it’s within spec according to Valve.
Received my LE yesterday and sure enough I’ve got a dead pixel in the upper corner. Reached out to Steam support so we’ll see what they say.
