I have an A71 and the battery isn’t reliable anymore after 3 years, so time for a new phone. I’m considering:

  • S21 fe (128, 6gb, Snapdragon 888) €400
  • A54(256, 8gb, Exynos 1380) €400
  • S22 (256, 8gb, Exynos 2200) for €599 ( honestly : above my budget).

Use: mail, browse, socials, whatsapp, good photo quality is nice, but not most important. No gaming.

I know this question has been asked before and I’ve read a lot of posts/comments here. I’ve read about the bad battery in the S21 fe and that the A54 is crap… But we are a few months further and maybe things/opnions have changed… So, what to choose?

    Funny I judt replaced my A71 that couldn’t last a day on a charge and whenever I used it at 0 degrees celcius and below, it died within 10 minutes (like 80% all of a sudden zero).

    If you can splurge, I recommend the S23 FE. Basically the A54 with way better internals and cameras. It’s normally not an amazing idea at that price but with black friday, the price is amazing so yea is recommend that. I have it and I love it.

    refurbished phones are absolutely fantastic these days, why don’t you try to get a refurbished s21+, it is a few generations behind but it will still perform amazingly. if you don’t wanna go that route id say s21 fe

    Leaning towards the s21 fe or s22. Battery might not be as good as a54 but the performance will always be smooth and i have the option to use dex on a monitor

    I also recently changed my A71 because the battery was dying at like 50% when used outside in colder weather.

    I got A54 and can certainly say that it is not crap. Works just as good as A71 and even better. The screen is great, the build is great, the speakers are amazing coming from A71, the camera is great and the battery is also very good. Though it does tend to get warmer than my A71 ever would.

    So, judging by your use case, I would just go with A54. You don’t want S21 FE because you already have battery issues and with this phone it will be even worse. S22 is great but with Exynos and small battery capacity it will also be pretty bad, also it’s much more expensive. So the choice seems clear to me, but that’s just my opinion.

    I recently got an A54 and it is fantastic! Mind you I came from Xiaomi Redmi. But I was a Samsung user many years back before that. Now that I am back with Samsung, man they have improved a lot and I can honestly say well worth the price. It is 80% of the flagship at 1/3 of the price.
