My new LE OLED Deck has a few red sub-pixels that are dead, and I’ve seen reports around this sub of others with similar issues. It almost seems like it is being mentioned more for specific models. So, I’m curious…. If you got a new Steam Deck OLED what model did you get and how is your screen?

If you haven’t checked and don’t know how it is pretty easy. Just go to desktop mode, install and open Firefox, then go to this website to check:

3 dead pixels on my LE. It has the BOE panel. I ordered a standard 1TB deck last night and hopefully there’s no dead pixels on the new unit.

Ah, mine is apparently Samsung. I’ve had BOE panels on phones though, and haven’t had any problems with those. I suspect it’s likely that just due to the nature of limited runs, if BOE is doing a lot of those, there may be more problems. (Limited runs often use a different production line, often with less automation, and humans are more likely to miss a stuck pixel than a computer check.)

Is your deck the LE? That’s some good insight. It will be interesting to see if this is something that persists or just a crappy batch on the LE. Dead pixels aside I will say that the panel is absolutely gorgeous and in my opinion it’s a major improvement over the switch OLED

I’ve not heard of many people getting the BOE panel, do we know how it compares to the Samsung panel yet?

I haven’t seen any direct comparisons yet. It just seems like a lot of LE owners are having issues with the dead pixels and I haven’t seen anyone with an LE report that they received a Samsung screen. If I still have my LE in hand when I receive my new 1TB standard OLED I will check to see what panel it has and if there are any notable differences
