I was gifted an iPhone 15 Pro, delivered yesterday morning, by yesterday evening it was being sent back (Network couldn’t sort out my contract).

But during this time I got to play with it, I was upgrading for an iPhone 11 (normal, not pro) and was so excited for the huge difference, but I just didn’t feel it?!

Do you feel you’ve had a big difference from your previous upgrade? I took the same photo on my 11 and 15th and unless you zoomed in, you couldn’t really see the difference. The sound quality on the 15pro I could hear every breath when recording and I also felt like white colours were ‘too strong’ on the screen making videos/photos feel fake on the 15 pro compared to read on the 11. Are you noticing any of these? Did I just not get to play long enough?

Upgrading from 7 to 11 felt HUGE and I was expecting that again, especially with this being a Pro model.

I’m going to turn on my own kind here (that’s a joke, I don’t have brand loyalty), and reveal that Android offerings are no longer far off from this.

The only exceptions I can think of are the folding phones, which are actually a pretty cool innovation (albeit somewhat niche still.)

You’re acting like esim is better when a SIM card is much simpler to transfer between phones. I remember when my mom’s phone died we just took the SIM card out and put it into an older phone as a replacement.

Also we don’t have bs like phones being locked to a specific carrier here because we just use SIM cards

It’s only locked if they don’t pay it off. Here we pay the phone off over 2-3 years and it’s added to your bill. Poor people who either fail to make payments try to sell their phone that they don’t own so it’s a pain for them. Rightfully so. Don’t let liberal Reddit determine how America is for you. They come on here because things aren’t going their way and they can find a bunch of other cry babies to cry with. Very cowardly behavior from the libs

Esims are literally more restrictive than normal SIM cards in every way and the only advantage is “oh you don’t have to use the lil metal stick” lmao.

Yeah I went into the store when I picked up my phone but it took 20 mins and my whole family walked out with iPhone 15’s for free after trading in out 13’s that we got for free after trading in our 11’s lol. You guys got carriers that will take your old iPhone and give you a free new one? But you guys got the convenience of swapping a sim haha

No, I’m in the UK 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve been with three for almost 10 years. Hubby brought me the phone contact as a gift, did it on his account.

They can’t switch my number over. Their only solution is me leaving them, paying the cancelation fee and going to another network and THEN porting my number back. It’s so much hassle and extra cost, so as we are within 14 days it’s being sent back.

It may have been better to change providers tbh. I was on O2 on my old phone. Then I decided to get the 15 Pro, but paying for it on contract, myself. Since I was setting it up in my own name, I just decided to change providers too, mainly cos of the price difference. So I was on O2, as I said. I looked at prices elsewhere though, and it ended up being way cheaper on Sky Mobile. Even though every phone before this had been with O2, changing providers was less of a hassle. Yeah, I had to wait 2 days for them to change my number over, but I’ve had less problems since I switched, than I had before. That was a bit of a ramble, I apologise😂

Man, the world is too fucked up right now so some like to have a little cheer to their day with a tree. My wife asked Nov 1 if we could put the tree up sometime soon. The next day while she was at work I put it up for her and we’ve enjoyed it so much. This “has to wait until December” crowd can get over it.

This seems to be a troll post. An iPhone 11 to iPhone 15 pro you get:

      • OLED display
      • 120 Hz screen
      • Brighter display
      • 5G
      • Better Camera
      • Action button
      • USB-C

You have to be a moron to say that the above quality of life features have zero impact even if you’re an extremely low end user.

This seems to be troll reply. I tried to switch from iPhone 11 Pro to 15 pro and ended up returning after 10 days of use. 15 pro with oled panel consumes battery like crazy. 120hz again battery sucker. Brighter display again same. So basically you get an updated phone with a less efficient battery. Which a normal use wants a more efficient battery. 5g is fine but till 5g came 4g lte was great too. Only the main camera is 48mp rest both the camera suck big time. Also 1 inch sensor 48 mp is still boring. Apple creates unnecessary bloated files from the main camera. USB-C nice to have but not everyone uses it.

The average user doesn’t care about OLED, 120hz, or a brighter display as long as it works. I personally would never care about 5G because it’s the same thing as 4g just slightly faster In select areas and less reliable. The camera is good enough that nobody would care. Action button is so high up that it’s useless. USB-C can actually be negative for an average user, only a small percent of those users are using usb-c accessories.

Do I really have to explain how this is dual sided?

Since I’ve been downvoted, I guess I’ll have to.

Our brain has been proven to change the way we perceive things. This is common knowledge. In case you need proof, just look up the effects of optical illusions and how they work. Maybe watch a few.

The human eye shows us the world around us in about 24hz. This is why movies are mostly filmed in 24fps. The brain can change how we perceive that though. Clearly it can. Because are set to 24hz, yet we can see 60, 120, and with the new Samsung wall tv, 2000hz, this proves something is underlying. However, when you watch a movie, it is typically difficult to see individual frames.

The gamers in this sub would have thought they plucked me apart by now. Games don’t run at 24fps, and usually when it falls below a certain threshold, we can see this and interpret it as “lagging”. This is because unlike a movie, where you are relaxed, and not making and quick decisions, (unlike a game), your brain automatically shifts to see things in the correct order, either to preserve energy, or other things which I do not know.

In a game, adrenaline is rushing, your senses are heightened, you are thinking quicker, but less intelligent, and you make choices faster. In a game, you will notice the “lag” much more because your brain has made your eyes more sensitive to the shift in HZ.

Now your question is, what does this have to do with the screen on a phone? Well, when a user switches from a 60hz phone to a 120hz phone, they will temporarily see a difference. Ultimately, that users brain will adjust the eyes to match the display. And vice versa. When a 120hz user returns to 60hz, they will temporarily see a decrease in performance (artificially). This makes the phone seem like it is “lagging”, as stated by other users in this thread; “If you go back to the regular display everything feels slow”. (Posted by u/M4NU3L2311).

Anyway, I digress. Any further objections will be addressed in this comment as an edit.

Why do you have to be a moron to not be blown away by the phone?

Regular people could not tell you what it is or notice the difference between types of screens. Most people who can tell the difference probably only notice because they know the difference exists.

The Action button only matters if you use it.

So on your list the only thing a regular person is going to notice is that the top right corner says 5G now instead of 4G, the camera is marginally better, and that they have to use USB C instead of lightning. Doesn’t make them a moron if these things don’t improve their quality of life with the phone…

I have a 7+. I’m debating b/t an iPhone 11 or higher or a Samsung Galaxy. I know I’d get flak for Android, but I use a Note8 for my work phone, and it’s pretty awesome.

I’m personally waiting for TouchID to return on iPhones. I’m a twin. Can’t do FaceID.

I was really surprised at the new Face ID, you could basically get it to unlock with just your eyes only, glasses on because it has a mask option.

I don’t get on with Touch ID, it always messes uo the kids fingerprints, but I can understand how people prefer it.

I’m a mechanic finger Id is my sworn enemy because of cuts and things on my thumbs I literally couldn’t use touch on my 7 for 3 weeks cause of a fight with a belt sander I had every time I adding my print I’d heal a bit and it wouldn’t work or get another cut

          I want the OPTION.

I’ve had a similar fight with a belt sander. Lucky, I was wearing gel nails and it got the nail instead. +1 OptionalCooke, 0 pos sander

Upgraded from 13 to 15 and the only difference for me is the new one feels cheaper without case. I regret it tbh.

i came from the 11 and the 15 feels like the most premium base model yet imo. maybe the “cheapness” you feel is the reduction in weight?

Same here. I gave my 13 Pro Max to my wife and I constantly find myself wanting to ask to switch phones.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max was stolen (uninsured) and I was forced to upgrade to the 15 Pro Max as I needed a phone for work. I gotta admit I was quite unimpressed with the 15 as an upgrade. The new front camera is nice though

I recently had a friend bring me a 15 pro max from Dubai, I used it for two days and found no difference between my 13 and it so I gifted it to my dad, he was carrying an 11 pro and loved the upgrade plus he looks real classy pairing it with his Rolex.

Same feeling here. I upgraded my 11 pro last year for the 14 pro and even tho there are some noticeable upgrades: -Dynamic Island -120hz -way brighter -and major camera upgrades Despite all that, I miss my 11 pro. The heaviest of the 14 pro is too much. And when taking photos, the iPhone does a lot of processing and HDR which at the end the photo kinda looks fake. Don’t get me started talking about battery…

If you were gifted the phone, what does it have to do with your network and contract? You simply swap your sim over to the new phone and keep paying your phone bill as normal

My husband gifted me the phone as in he brought a new contract including the phone because apple refused us credit for the first time ever.

My provider wouldn’t let me move my number with me and wanted to charge us multiple times for things. I tried everything, they didn’t want to help and said either go to another network or cancel basically.

I also upgraded from 11 to 15 pro this year and it didn‘t feel like a big upgrade for me too. Battery life is the biggest bummer. 15 pro has less battery life than a 4 year old iPhone 11 @ 85% capacity. >:

Better screen, better cameras etc are nice but not overwhelming these days.

I used an iPhone 11 @ 74% battery health and I’m not getting much difference with battery life either. It just feels a little bit better.
