If so, in what way?

Who says that it can’t be both. Are there cheaper ways to do the things it does maybe but it does them all well enough and I would say with style. Mine was a gift for my wife. I’m still wearing the series 5 I wear mine every day I run a business and I have a family being able to spot my email, appointments and text on my wrist while carrying things and working all day for me is next level.

I felt quite tired yesterday morning despite getting a good nights sleep, so I checked Athlytic and it gave me a very low recovery score and said that a few of my vitals were outside of their normal range. So I gave myself the day off, spent the day relaxing and went to bed early. I was definitely coming down with a cold or something by the way I was feeling mid afternoon. Feel fine today and my recovery score is medium. I can’t say for sure what would have happened without it, but I suspect I would currently be ill.

I love this watch, it tells you to log your feelings, to stand up, tells you good morning 😃 it’s a wonderful wrist companion!

For me it’s almost exclusively a hedonistic luxury as you put it. It made some very specific things a bit easier (Checking messages/calls, authenticator app, siri, the occasional sports session…) but has almost no real impact on my life as a gadget. I still like it though.

Its made me more motivated to excercise. A lot easier to keep going when u can actually see the progress and how ur doing.

I was averaging 3500 steps a day which is horrible. The past 6 months im at 4100 which is still shit but im getting there.

250 bucks id say it was worth it. Wish i went with a used 6 instead of the SE2 tho.

It has definitely been an important part of my health. I use it for working out and although the Fitbit does the same, I genuinely love my Apple Watch.

Helps me track more accurately the steps and you could argue I’m a little bit healthier if I aim for 10k steps / day instead of sitting on my butt all day

It’s nice to track my resting heart rate, especially before and after betablockers.

More convenient when looking at my notifications when phone’s away / I’m driving.

Once when I was boxing it asked me if I took a fall and wanted to call 911 :)

So pretty much just a luxury , haha

It has helped me get a good indication of my heartbeat and helps me tack sleep, which in tone helps my GP gain some insights in to my health. But besides that I would actually prefer to go back to a normal watch.

(M23YO) Not super useful in everyday life, I can always use my phone instead. I’d say if you’re not doing sport, it’s just a gadget. If you are though, it’s a great piece of gear, totally worth it for training.

Yes my Apple Watch tracks my health activities- I love having the metrics. It motivates me to exercise and be healthier.

Honestly, I rarely use mine. It doesn’t add much to my day. I do use it when I exercise because it makes me feel like I’m getting credit for it 😆
